View Full Version : Anyone been in a "S" Suite on the Amsterdam

I need info in order to decide which location is best. I know the "S" suites are immediatley under the Lido deck. How much noise do you get from the Lido deck, pool area, and buffet area? Is it better to be under a certain area vs. another area? Paying so much for this suite, just don't want to make any mistakes in picking one under a very noisy area. Any help would be great.

Also if you were in one of these suites, what did you like about it especially?

Thanks

Amsterdam

We were in 006. We try to book as far forward as possible to avoid hearing the chairs being moved around the Lido area.

We always book suites as we like the larger room, dressing area, larger bathroom, and larger verandah.

Amsterdam was the first ship that we were on that had the Neptune Lounge. Now we wouldn't think about booking a ship didn't have the Neptune Lounge.

Avoid the 8 aft-most suites - they don't have tubs and the vibration is pretty bad.

Back-to-Back several years ago. In 004. Very quiet. It was a good choice. Have been in Suites approximately 5 times on HAL Ships. Avoid those directly under the Lido Pool. Never did select those.:)

I think we were in number 10 on Amsterdam and the noise was bad. It was worse next door in 8 as I recall as the ping pong table was above it and people played until after midnight. There was also what some others forward of us described as the sound of something like a bowling ball rolling around above them. We had a ton of kids on our trip and Club HAL had late night parties on Lido and that coupled with the late night feeding frenzies in the Lido caused considerable lost sleep.

As others have suggested, try and get a cabin as far forward under the beauty shop area as they are shut down in the evening.

We had 7050 for 21-days on the Amsterdam, well aft, on port side and loved it. We did not encounter any vibration and the shower was huge, since no tub. It was an upgrade for us at the last minute (not free, either). It was far enough aft that there was no noise from the Lido Deck, above. I would take it again. S cabins on the Amsterdam, either well forward or well aft should avoid most noises from above on the Lido. :)

We were in Amsterdam S7006, and I can recall the sound of the ping pong table. Could think of worst things to hear, but it was audible. This time we are on the other side in Rotterdam S7007 on the other side. On the days the band was playing on the Lido deck we enjoyed hearing them play from our balcony. That was a lovely perk!

Had S7017 and it was just GREAT across from Neptune Lounge. No noise from above as I could tell. ENJOY ;)

Stateroom S7032 - last year no problems with noise from higher deck or any vibrations. Go for it!!!

We were in 7006 and the noise you hear above are the chairs rolling around in the beauty parlor - they are on wheels. (Not bowling balls.)

KK-As the noise was at 3 am maybe they should secure the chairs! But that explains why our neighbors could not find the source of the noise when they ventured up to the Lido Deck in the wee hours of the night.

I don't know if the chairs have any kind of locks on them. But we also heard them a couple of times - expecially after the stabilizers were taken off for the night and the ship rocked a little.
