Is one able to change travel agents/transfre a reservation after a reservation was made? For example, if one is displeased with service or pricing? Thanks for the answer in advance.

Ohhh...That's a Sticky Wicket! ;) I would never try it!

Believe it's very difficult to change Travel Agents mid- stream, if not impossible...The TA who made the initial booking might impose a cancellation fee &/or even cancel the entire HAL reservation...Then you would have to start over with a new Agent.. If you are able to, I would try to speak to a Supervisor at the Agency first in order to get better service & a better price..Most good TA's would try to help you & also would try to meet a better price which you've found with another Agent..

I honestly don't think it's a good idea to try to change Agents...Perhaps you will get advice from someone who has successfully changed their Agent..

We've only made a direct booking with HAL & then had it transferred to a travel Agent which gave us a better fare.. That was no problem..

Good luck & please let us know how you made out..

It's not impossible to change TA's after a reservation is made but it's not an easy task. We only did it one time because we found the original TA impossible to deal with. We had to call the original TA and explain why we were unhappy and wanted the booking transferred. It wasn't an easy thing to do so I made my husband make the phone call:D. We were not charged a cancellation fee and I don't remember them cancelling the entire reservation, but then that was some years ago.

It can be done but you will have to make that dreaded phone call to the original TA. If you are really unhappy then I would definitely go for it.

Good luck and have a wonderful cruise

Val is right--

You simply have to contact the original TA and explain that you want them to release the reservation to your new TA.

If you are outside your cancellation penalty window - you could always just cancel the reservation and rebook w/ the new TA...
...but that wouldn't give you the satisfaction of letting the original TA know why they're losing your business and you could lose your specific cabin booking.

I have changed TA's a few times. Some TA's have a "change or cancellation fee" that you will have to pay. You may need the TA to sign a waiver allowing you to switch.

I now book through an online TA, my preference but I still pay a change fee of $35 if I want a different cabin etc. As long as you know the rules up front, it is just a good business decision.

I have also advised my TA of a better price that I have and have asked them to match it or come close which often happened. If it didn't happen, then I changed. Close is good enough in most cases.
