View Full Version : HMC - Question about food/drinks

I've searched the threads for information on Half Moon Cay regarding the cabanas, which is not economical for me, and the clamshells. But I don't see anyone talking about food or drinks unless it's in the cabana.
If you rent (or don't) a clamshell, are there drinks and food anywhere during the day? Is any of the food/drink free, besides the BBQ? I would appreciate any insight those more experienced might be able to offer.

The BBQ served on HMC is free to ALL HAL PAX and is the buffet that is served for lunch on the island to everyone that comes over from their ship. You are welcome at the BBQ whether you rent a clamshell or cabana or not. (With the butler service/cabana rental I believe there are other food choices, but that is not what you are asking.)
The BBQ is very good- hamburgers, hot dogs, bbq, salads, all kinds of fruit, and all the typical condiments at no charge. Ice tea is also free, with a charge for soft drinks and alcoholic drinks.

...And wonderful brownies and homemade cookies!! :)
We think the ribs at HMC are great. We never have anything messy, sweet and fattening like that at home so it is a treat we allow ourselves when at HMC.

I was really wondering what would be available at times other than the BBQ; however,
DH and I have decided to splurge and just booked the Pink Cabana.:)

Unless you have the butler service with your cabana, the food that is available for the day IS the BBQ I described.

Now that you have booked the cabana you will get a couple of soft drinks free as well a fruit platter and salsa & chips free. If you didn't order the bitler service, the "runner" will get drinks for you - but you will still have to pay for them.

How much does it cost to get a cabana? Also, when and how do you book it for your sailing, on the ship?

The last I heard the cabanas cost $219 total for 4 people. The price may have changed in the last month.
You can book a cabana through Ship services - 1 -800 -541 -1576 - then ask for a specific color.

If you wait until you get to the ship to book a cabana, you are taking a chance they will all be spoken for but if you decide to wait, you book through the Shore Excursion Office. If you happen to be in an "S" or "PS" cabin, the Concierge in Neptune Lounge can handle it for you.

From everything we have read recently the cabanas have been sold out before passengers get on the ship.
So if you really want one - book it now!

There is no other food unless you rent a cabana :)
We were given a priority tender pass with our cabana rental and were on the first tender out, with the cabana rental you get to take the last tender off at 4pm so we didn’t have to wait in line then either. We loved this cabana too! It came with an ice chest filled with 12 cans of soda pop and 4 waters, there was fresh fruit basket and flowers on the table, in the refrigerator (in the cupboard – lots of space to store personal stuff in too) was sliced fruit plate, olives, veggies & dip plate, salsa, avocado dip and chips, 2 lounge chairs with mist’ers, fresh water shower on deck, We had mats and snorkel gear for 4. We had 6 washcloths in ice cold water with ice packed on top, for our faces or body to cool down with. Our cabana guy was “Mario” and was he ever great! He was always making sure we had everything we needed or wanted, he brought us extra towels too. Even when we left the cabana he was right there close by watching our stuff.
BBQ lunch served were meats (pork ribs, chicken, steak, hot dogs, and hamburgers) and 5 kinds of salads, cut-up fresh fruit, and deserts and cookies!

Thanks Ziggy. I saw some of your posts and pictures in other threads. The information really helped me make a decision. The cabana is $$$ just for two people, but DH & I don't stay in the sun very much and want to enjoy the day. Plus with the drinks & fruit - well, that just makes it even better.
