Trying to make a final decision on Mexico for my husband, myself and our 13 year old. We've been on HAL Rotterdam in the Med. and enjoyed it, but didn't care for the dining experience (food was just not great...service either...but thought it could be because we were in Europe???). I've been reading good things about the food on the Oosterdam, but the service being an issue. What a delema!

Second issue....is it worth the price difference to get the S vs. the SS for a group of three people? Are there really any suite perks to make it worthwhile? Do you get a full dining menu in your room if you have an S Suite?

Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had an SS on the Oosterdam last March and while it was certainly better than a mini-suite I would not have wanted to share it with a third person. Now I can't remember who it was but interestingly another CC'er moved into the cabin we vacated (SS 6060) and there were 3 of them so maybe they'll see this thread and comment. As I recall they felt it was comfortable and they didn't feel crowded. As for the service....hmm....this is a much debated issue here and it appeared that even on our cruise it really depended where you sat in the dining room. Our service was acceptable but not exceptional. My best description was that it was uneven from OK to bad.

If all 3 of you are accustomed to space - especially when it comes to changing clothes, etc., then you would be better off going for the S category. Also you will have use of the Neptune Lounge if you don't feel like going to the Lido or ordering breakfast in.

Our service was excellent in the dining room when we were on the Oosterdam last March.

Also, the full dinner menu is available in the S suite. They'll leave a new menu for you to order from every morning.

Another plus for an S is priority tender passes. Some ports in Mexico are tender ports.

Such great info! Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for! I think the full menu in the S might make the deciding factor!!!

How was the food (meat in particular)? Thanks again for taking the time to help me on this!!!!

You get free laundry and dry cleaning with an S suite. We love the S suites.

From my experience back in July, the service was very good on the Oosterdam.
