Can anyone tell me what size the in-room safe is in cat. C (Lower Prom.) on the Maasdam. DH is curious what will fit in there. THANKS!

I'm a poor judge of dimensions, especially when trying to remember a year after our cruise, but I'd say the interior space was about 9 inches long by 5 inches high and 4 inches deep. You could put a small camera in, plus wallets, money, small jewelry boxes, especially if you could tip some things on their sides.

You also have two bedside stands, each with a drawer that locks with a key.

That's about the right description for the safe size. It's the same size safe in all cabins - bought in bulk. We have always found them to sufficient.

I would say it was a little deeper than that. OK, add tape measure to list of things to bring.:D

I was able to fit my camera (a decent size SLR) and strobe, along with wallets in there with no problem.

One suggestion - You lock and unlock them by swiping a card, any card, with a magnetic stripe. You may want to bring along an expired credit or ATM card for that purpose.

It is the same safe on all the ships. The difference not being size but the opening mechanism. Some open by swiping a magnetic strip and others by combination chosen by the pax.

Orcrone, glad you mentioned about the magnetic strip card. We always bring an expired card to use for the safe on the S class ships. That way we can lock up the VISA card and not worry.

For the safes that require a magnetic card we take an old Cox's credit card (an old clothing store that has been gone for 20 years in our area).

I hated the safe on the Statendam - you had to use the key provided by the ship which looked just like the room key.

I really prefer the safes where you punch in your code.

Are the bedside stands that lock on all the ships?

Bookworm,

I don't know about any of the Vista ships but I believe all the other ships have a bedside table with drawers that can be locked.
