First of all, thanks to everyone who posts on this board. I've learned a lot and really enjoy this forum. This is my first posting.

Question: I booked a guaranteed category H stateroom on the Zaandam leaving Seattle on June 26. Much to my surprise and delight, we were assigned a category DA stateroom. This looks like an upgrade. If it is, is this unusual? Are category DA staterooms nice or do they have issues that make them difficult to sell? They look nice from the deckplan.

More questions (sorry, this is only my second cruise; I'm a newbie):

Are cappucinos served in the dining room after dinner complimentary?
Has anyone participated in the boat-making contest and was it fun?
In the Sweets & Treats sail-away, is there a charge for the Spanish coffees?
What is "Friends of Bill"?
Are other cc'ers on this sailing? I checked the Roll Call and there were no postings.
Thanks again for your input. I am packed and ready to go, meclizine in one hand and binocular & camera in the other! It is almost ridiculous how excited and happy I am to go on this cruise. It an entirely different way to see Alaska compared to our regular Denali backpacking trips.

I can only answer one of your questions - Friends of Bill, is an Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting.

Yes, the after dinner capuccinos are complimentary in the dining room, they are located on the bottom of the dessert menu.

The beverages in sailway are NOT free unless you order iced tea, coffee, tea, milk.

Friends of Bill meetings are alcoholics anonymous meetings.

The D cabins are very nice. They are quiet, low in the ship for minimal movement, and centrally located.

Hi, we didn't participate in the actual boat making part of the contest but we did go and watch when they were all trying to 'sail' them in the pool, to support all the creative boat builders. I'm sure they all enjoyed the challenge as much as the actual sailing contest as well, which was great fun. Have a great cruise.:)

If you take a look at the floor plans you'll see that there are actually very few H rooms. I would guess this means that lots of H guarantees end up with upgrades. Enjoy your upgrade!
