Just learned that Joel Mason will not be on the July 5 sailing of the Westerdam. Must be taking his own vacation or something. My wife and I were looking so forward to seeing him and Julie from all of the rave reviews on this board. Does anyone have any idea who or what is substituted when one of the main acts are gone? Will Julie be absent also?

I understand your disappointment, as we enjoyed his performance when we were on the Westerdam. I guess entertainers deserve a vacation, too.
I wonder if cruise entertainers go on a cruise for vacation? Probably not.

Actually Joel Mason is not a permanent act. He does move from the Westerdam to the Oosterdam. And sometimes is on other ships.
He was on our cruise for just a few days. Julie was not on our 21 day cruise so that does not mean that she will leave as well.
HAL has plenty of entertainers and they will just replace him with another act.
Remember that Joel has children and they are now on vacation from school so probably wants to spend time with them.

Joel had his 2 girls with him on the Westerdam, and they even joined him onstage. They were adorable.

Darn I was just telling my DM how wonderful he would be. Well how can we find out who replaces him? How come your not on our roll call? We need more any chance of you joining us?

Chances are Joel will be replaced with a juggler, a comedian, or violinst, etc.
You will not know until you get on the ship and check your daily programs.
