Aloha All!

First I wanted to thank everyone who has responded to my post last week--your thoughtful info has been very helpful and we appreciate it and YOU!

This post is in regards to our cruise Sept. 4 on the Navigator with embarkation in Monte Carlo.
We have booked our own air from Honolulu to Monte Carlo and also our pre-cruise hotel accomodations at the Fairmont.
My question: Because we arranged for our own air/hotel can we still book a pre-cruise excursion to St. Paul de Vence with Regent? Or do we arrange our own transportation and tour?

Thank you all again!
Aloha,
Tim and Jeff

My understanding is that you'll not be able to book pre-cruise excursions through Regent. We had hoped to do just that last year when we were doing our own air-- couldn't do it. May have changed, but wasn't possible then. St Paul de Vence was very easy to get to from Nice, btw, and I assume likewise from Monte Carlo. Why not contact the Fairmont and find out if they have some sort of excursion to St Paul; I wouldn't be surprised if they did. But, again, I believe it'd be fairly easy (and, obviously, less expensive) to get to on one's own. We loved St Paul! Also Vence and Eze and Nice. In fact, Monte Carlo as well-- which surprised us. We thought the walks and the views and the buildings and the squares were quite beautiful. We were sorry we hadn't allowed an extra day in M.C.

It's usually the case, I believe, that there really aren't excursions available on embarkation day. This means you're probably going to have to arrange your own. The Mediterranean board here on CC should have some information on this, either by searching or posting a query.

Aloha! We are doing the same cruise, but a month earlier than you - Aug 7. We are also staying at the Fairmont in Monte Carlo...I hadn't thought about an excursion but will look into St. Paul de Vence. Interesting...I am getting really excited now!! I would love to hear about what you think of the included excursions and if you are staying in Athens post-cruise...Mahalo...Debi

You cannot book pre-cruise excursions if you do your own air and hotel. But as others have said, what you want to do is fairly easy, and you will save a bundle of money doing it on your own.

Debi,
We will be at the Fairmont and then the cruise with you leaving August 7. My DW from the US and I from Bahrain. Hope we run into one another, inchalla.

I guess you will be easy to find with two young men with you. I can't give you any advice on the excursions as Europe is not my thing. Now if we were on the Paul Gaugin, different story. We looked at the various postings for each port to get an idea of what we would like, however this cruise is more a chance for DW and I to reconnect after 9 weeks apart.
I am sure your sons will enjoy the unlimited room service. My son, then 18, really got into between meal orders of beef tips from room service.
