Funny story from our cruise...

DH and I were getting ready for 2nd formal night. We were in a hurry because we were meeting up with some new friends we made onboard. I put on one of those new fangled all-in-one ladies' undergarments (you know, the ones that are supposed to make you look more slender). Anyhow, I realized you could see it through my blouse and decided to wear something else under the clothing, changing in a hurry.

Lo and behold, we come back to the cabin many hours later, to find said undergarment neatly folded and on my nightstand! I was absolutely mortified. I could not look the cabin steward in the face the next morning.

Hi All- I'm back but swamped with mundane chores. I will be back with a review (had a fabulous time by the way) my wife took over 2000 pictures with a fancy shmancy camera. I will be back as soon as I come up for air. Please have some interesting smoking and tipping threads for me.

Is anybody keeping the "Barf Fest" warm?

Lemmie guess; you sacrificed yourself for your team, be it the Atlantic or the Pacific by taking off a certain piec of clothing that, under normal circumstances, you would never do?;)

Yes, I've played

Tired after a cruise?

Of course.
One has to pack, go through the trauma of disembarkation and the culture shock of being off-ship and out of the "safety-cocoon" one enjoys while aboard. One has to go through the stress of transfer to the airport, go through the Occult Rituals involved with passing through Airport Security, wait for one's flight, put up with the indignities of been shoe-horned into too small of space for too many hours, then struggle with luggage to get it to your ground transportation for return drive home.

THEN, one has to unpack, do laundry, sort through piled up mail, pay extra-special attention to one's fur-children, and start paying bills ...all while fighting the inner-ear sensations of being at sea. The next day one gets up and goes to work to face the great big piles that have accumulated on your desk while you've been gone, attempt to put out the fires that have come alive while you were gone, faced scores of people who can't believe that you merited that vacation and that you're going on another one in just another few months or half-a-year (or thereabouts) ("don't you ever work?"). It takes 2 weeks to prepare for a 14 day cruise, and it takes another 2 weeks to clean up the messes that are left after one gets home from a 14 day cruise. How can that be!!!?!??? But, it's invariably the truth; I don't recover from a cruise until I've had at least as many days back home as I spent with deck under my feet. It's almost not worth the trouble ... almost.

The Rev is correct. It is very exhausting work to be done with a cruise. And of course trays aren't boring. Generates alot of interest, that one. Yikes. I personally found the vegan thread hilarious. Those are fun discussions!:D

At a recent safety drill (referring to the Promenade Deck), a lady in front of us told her friend, "We're so lucky to be out here - this deck is NEVER open. It's for emergencies only, because the lifeboats hang above."

I have, and I always have a blast. One time I was with a fun group, and one of the young men offered his trousers up for the cause. :D

Another time I was in front row on the upper level when they needed a picture of Ben Franklin. I happened to have a $100 bill tucked away for BINGO, so floated it down. There was a comment about it raining money.

Oh, gosh, this reminded me of the time they asked for TWO men's trousers. The "life of the party" guy in our group had his off in no time, as expected. None of the other men budged, but then out of the corner of my eye, I saw my somewhat-shy adult son with his pants in his hands and not on his legs. My eyebrows shot up -- hadn't seen him pantless in decades!

I still think I have you all beat at fun Quest games.

When the quest was on for women's bras, a woman sitting right in front by the stage (not me), very calmly unbuttoned her blouse and removed it and then very calmly unhooked her bra and removed it and handed it to the team "runner" to take....then she calmly put her blouse back on. The Cruise Director, who was standing on the stage about 10 feet away and looking down at the woman, was openmouthed and temporarily speechless. Needless to say, the crowd was roaring. Even funnier, when the bra was returned to her, she ran the play in reverse and put it back on. She was cool and collected and totally unconcerned about what was happening around her.

I'm not the greatest judge of age, but I'd say the lady was about 75....white hair, a very conservative, sweet looking grandmotherly type....which made it so unexpected. The best part wasn't the free shot but the reaction from the Cruise Director.

When people make derogatory comments about the "old folks" on the HAL ships, I think about that lady and how much fun she made that game.

They asked for dentures. I presume they expected the runner to bring forth someone with dentures in his/her mouth. My husband took his out of his mouth and handed them to the runner.

This was long before the days when noro virus was a major consideration on ships. I would hope no one would misunderstand quite this way today!

A good story? I think so. But no where near as good as the bra story. :D

You know, that bra story was really funny but I don't know anyone about to do that unless they are totally unhinged. Like at a party or some strange weird thing.
But! Ruth's story was a winner. Really. I can get into that one. Good one. Great job! I love it! Even though I don't wear dentures but maybe I will someday, who knows.:)
