Our driver Cool Jeff met us at the port right on time (actually he had been waiting for us). Our itinerary was; drive through Fern Gully, drive to the mountain top to see the Better areas and how the "other people live", stops at Coyoba Gardens with a lovely easy walking tour with a guide; stop and tour at and a cool drink of punch; lunch by the Falls at Wassi Art Pottery Factory then we had lunch at the the Ruins by the Falls of a Jamaican & Chinese buffet including Red Stripe Beer, glass of white wine or a soda (normally $14pp); shopping and time for rest and relaxation on Mahogony Beach. Cost was $45 per person including lunch and entry into all areas.

Our day was perfect in Jamaica. We got to see a lot of the island, mountains and town areas. The Ruins restaurant & food was very good and we really enjoyed the hospitality from the owner Larry and his staff. Larry is a Chinese Jamaican who for 30 years has been in the restaurant business. When it started to rain, they were right there moving us to a sheltered dining area complete with the paddle fans. Our new cruise friends and the "guys" also really liked the private tour. Being from Alaska, they don't get to a beach very often. Although we didn't stay too long, it gave us a while to take a dip into the ocean and relax on the sand. This is a great variety for a 5 hour tour that would not offer climbing Dunn's River or strenuous activity. My DH was just telling our son, who may be in Jamaica at the end of January, about the "cave people". I knew there were lots of poor, but seeing that first hand, made one realize how fortunate that we are. The only thing that I would change, would be the timing of the shopping. If it were scheduled last, then one could spend more time relaxing on the beach or at the shopping center across from the pier.

After meeting and talking with Belinda and Georgeen, they have decided to offer this tour to everyone and will be updating their web site soon. It is a great way to spend the day at leisure and in safety and comfort in Ochio Rios.

Bon Voyage
