We just got off the Volendam yesterday. We had rough seas at Half moon Cay and missed the port of call. they called it "gale force", but have no idea how strong the winds were. The ship was really rocking, but we all survived. Saw a few loads of dishes being carried by stewards hit the floor in the lido, and a few hangers fell in the closet of our cabin..but nothing too bad. Most folks were out and about, still eating, drinking and having a good time despite being disappointed about our missed port of call. We did recieve a nice note from the captain that he was sorry (not his fault) and offered us a glass of champagne at dinner and advised our port charges and all canceled shore excursions would be promptly refunded. As promised, we saw our pink cabana refund and port charges refunded per person. We left 11/6 and encountered rough waters getting to nassau. for the next 7 days, we had calm seas..heading back to the bahamas we ran into rough seas again. However, outside of a few broken dishes, and dashed dreams about a beautiful day on the private island, we all survived just fine. The oosterdam was scheduled to be at Half moon cay with us (11/15) but they didn't get to tender ashore either. they headed off to their next destination, we headed, very slowly, back to Ft. lauderdale.

Sorry you didn`t get to anchor for HMC. The Atlantic is definitely rough after the calm seas of the Caribbean.....jean

So is that where we in the UK are getting our bad weather from, then? :D :D :D
Sorry to hear of your missed trip, though. It must have been disappointing for you.
