For anyone wishing to have a special, private tour of St. Kitts, we highly recommend the services of Ilva Wallace, a local lady who does island tours on her own and specializes in helping you design an island stop with local flavour. We met Ilva in Feb. while on a Celebrity cruise and to say she was the highlight of our trip would be an understatement. ...if Ilva had had the courtesy to respond to my email message about her availability on the day we will be in St Kitts. It's been over a month since I sent her a message at an e-mail address that has been provided by several others who raved about her services. Never heard back from her - one way or the other.

Just make sure you have included the underscore between her name and the number 4, otherwise it will not go through. Found this out the hard way....

Actually, I got a response from her last night - my first message must have slipped through the cracks. I'm going to post this separately, but do you have any idea how much she charges for a private tour for two people? She confirmed we would be doing a private tour, but neglected to say how much she would be charging. Thanks.

When we used her back in Feb., she charged us $75 for a 3 1/2 hour private tour. Worth every penny in my book and much cheaper that what we would have paid through the ship for something similar. You may want to email her back to confirm the price beforehand.

Ilva's price has gone up for the private tour - we were a party of two on the island on December 18. She quoted $125 for the two of us for a 4-5 hour tour; negotiated to $100 - but ended up paying her the $125 anyway as we were thrilled with the service she provided. We arrived everywhere before the crowds, and self-paced the tour, which is one of the reasons we so enjoyed ourselves. (Ilva even went out of her way to try and help DH find an international newspaper.) Highly recommend her.
