Hi All,
New to HAL, but not to cruising. We are taking a 5 day Pacific Coastal cruise on the Veendam 9/27/09.
I was wondering if there are formal nights on the shorter cruises. Some lines do, and others don't.
Many thanks!
Sharon

Hmmmm, don't know about a 5-day cruise, but we recently did a 3-day Pacific coastal HAL cruise, and there were no formal nights. A 7-day cruise will have two formal nights. Soundsgreat6 thinks you will have at least one formal night. The coastal cruises do tend to be a little bit different, though. Maybe you can call HAL? (How's that for a non-answer?:))

We did a 5 night cruise on the Statendam last September, and we had 1 formal night. Some of our tablemates weren't expecting a formal night, and so hadn't brought any formal clothes and decided to eat in the Lido for that night.

It should tell you when you print out your boarding pass (E-Docs) after you have paid in full. How many formal but not which days are formal. On reg. cruises one can count on sea days being formal nights but in Alaska when you have so many ports that rule changes.

Thanks for the replies (or in the case of middle-aged mom, a non answer ... lol.) I'm about to make our final payment any day now, so I suppose I'll find out soon. And yes, if I got off my duff I certainly can call HAL to find out ;)
Happy 4th of July, everyone!
