Our first cruise on Westerdam will be April 10, so we have no paperwork yet.
I'm wondering if anyone can tell me which evenings are formal nights and if they have specific evenings for other events.
We'd like to book the Pinnacle on 1 or 2 nights, but not sure which ones. I hear that if you book on your first night it's only $10 -- that seems appealing.
Help me figure out what to do. I wrote HAL, but have gotten no response.
Thanks, Lois

Typically, formal nights are the days you are at sea. As far as booking the Pinnacle, as far as I know, the first night is still $10 per person. We ate in the Pinnacle for dad's birthday this past March while on the Rotterdam, we loved this restaurant and can hardly wait til we sail the Volendam to book it again. I highly recommend the Pinnacle, its wonderful.

Looking at your April 10 Westerdam cruise, it appears that your 2 formal nights will Tuesday when you are at sea and Thursday when you leave Grand Cayman at 4 PM.
In the past HAL ships have not had a formal night when you visit HMC or when you stay late In Cozumel.
Your last sea day is the day before you get off the ship and everyone is packing - no time for formal pictures, etc.

We have eaten at the Pinnacle Grill many times on many ships - love it.
You can make reservations for the first night for $10 per person by calling Ship Services at 1-800-541-1576. Making reservation once you get on the ship for the first night will be the regular charge of $20 per person. People have reported that sometimes the ship will run a special once you get on the ship for the first night - but don't count on it.

We just returned from the Westerdam cross Atlantic cruise. We ate in The Pinnacle several times. We pre booked the first night at $10/person and the amount was taken from our credit card prior to the cruise. However, this fact was not communicated to the Westerdam and we were charged again. Fortunately we had a copy of our credit card statement with us so it was resolved after a couple of days. The Pinnacle had a special 6 course meal one night (the first we were told) with a different wine for each course.. It was excellent and the cost was $75 per person. Well worth it. The executive chef created a whole new menu for this night. We would strongly endorse the Pinnacle overall.

KK, Thanks we will be on this cruise March 13th and what you have said makes totally perfect sense. I am not a betting person but I would bet you are right on Tuesday and Thursday being the Formal nights. I would guess Wednesday will be the Informal night giving.
