After my cruise ends in a few weeks we'll probably have 5 or 6 hours on our hands while we wait for our flight to take off from Ft. Lauderdale. I am gathering looking on this board that when Zuiderdam comes back on the 4th, we'll probably be off the boat and done with customs no later than 11 AM. Our flight leaves at 4 PM. So I need some tips for me and the wife. She hates waiting around, but give me an Ipod loaded with tunes and I am a happy little lamb.

I can't be much encouragement because that's not really enough time to do anything. With a 4:00 flight, you need to be at the airport at 2:30. I don't believe FLL airport has luggage lockers, so you will have to haul your bags with you if you leave the airport/port area. Can't suggest renting a car, as that will cut lots of time out of what little there is. About the best you can do is hire a taxi to drive you around town and show you the sights and/or do a little shopping.

If HAL offers a shore excursion that includes an air-boat ride through the Everglades - take it. Many years ago we did one on our own & loved it.
Also the luggage will go right with you on the bus and the bus will drop you off at the airport around 2:30.

Same problem here except our flight leaves at 220pm and earliest departure time to take a ship tour is 230:(
