Is anyone here familiar with the Travelex Company? The coverage seems to be adequate for us and the rate is a good bit lower. Has anyone had any experience with them? Any claims filed? Our last trip was with TravelSafe and they were great, but are a lot more expensive this time.

We filed a claim with Travelex for the full fare of a Suite on the Rotterdam, having had to cancel within 24 hours of the cruise due to an illness in my family. Had no problem at all- just needed a doctor's statement about the family member's illness, plus an invoice of what we had paid HAL.

Don't forget to think about not only your own possible pre-existing conditions, but those of family members. You need to get your insurance within a certain number of days after booking (I think 14 w/ Travelex) or you would not be covered for a situation that arose which was a pre-existing condition at the time you booked. In our case we might have had trouble collecting if we had not purchased our insurance at the time of booking- it was a pre-existing condition of our family member that caused us to cancel.

My brother and his partner used them. His partner's grandmother died while they were on their cruise, and paid all expenses necessary to end the cruise early and get him back home.
