We are taking the cruise train back from Seward and have a 9:30 PM flight out of Anchorage. Since we are flying Regent air do they have a day room in Anchorage and a place to store luggage ? Also do they have transfers back to the airport ?

cstrick...If you are taking Regent's train back to Seward, my bet is that it will take you to the airport depot. We are taking their train to the cruise ship in Seward next week and it departs from the airport depot.

I believe that the hotel that Regent uses in Anchorage is the Hilton. The train stops at the airport; if you have a late flight, you will be bussed to the Hilton from the train stop, where your luggage has been taken by truck straight from the ship. There is a day room; there will be shuttles for you and your luggage back to the airport at the appropriate time.

We were on the 6/17 cruise north to Seward; it was an incredible experience, have a fabulous trip.

Thank you for the info. This will be our third trip to Alaska ( the second Alaskan cruise with Regent ). I never get tired of the scenery.

My TA quoted me a fairly ridiculous amount for the day room at the Hilton through Regent ($800+) Please tell me that there is a more reasonable alternative? We are Northbound on the 8/26 cruise.

The day room is part of the train ride cost.

Alaska Air has a club there. You can buy a day pass.

The Alaska Air day pass was $30.00 - nice room, wi-fi, complimentary wine, beer and snacks.

Since you will have lots of time in Anchorage, try Simon & Seafort's for lunch. We had dinner there before our cruise on June 24th and the food is amazing. The fish was fresh-caught that day and the King salmon was excellent. It's about five blocks from the Hilton and an easy walk.

I wonder if there is such a thing as bad fish in Alaska? Because we had two small children with us (and had been traveling since 5 AM that morning) we settled for dinner in the Anchorage Hilton Sports Bar (I know, I know. . . . =) We were shocked at the quality of the halibut: The halibut "sandwich" was a large portion which my wife pronounced the best halibut she had ever tasted . . . until we all tasted our grandson's halibut fisn-n-chip which was absolutely wonderful (very moist, flavorful, and a huge portion!) The service was very good, the place was almost empty at 8 PM.

Technically, the day room is not part of the train, but results because Regent often cannot get you to Anchorage in time to catch the train so they might bring you in early and comp you a hotel room.

It has to be their idea...if you ask for it, you may pay a deviation fee.

I was referring to the other way around. The Seward to Anchorage trip. In this direction when you get off the train you can wander off on your own as we did, walk across the street to the airport terminal, or take the Regent supplied bus to the hotel where you hang out or wander around until your flight leaves; at this point Regent will bus you back to the airport.
