View Full Version : VE class cabin on Vista Ship - Zuiderdam - any info?

I have a hold on a VE cabin on the Zuiderdam February cruise. It's not too near the elevator that is known to be too close to some verandahs. Does anyone have any comments or suggestions about these cabins?

VE balconies are 1.5 feet shallower than normal 6 feet = 4.5 feet. I'd prefer a VD, 1.5 feet DEEPER = 7.5 feet. However, VE are perfectly midships, and that's important to some people.

V category balconies are 9 feet wide (only a couple exceptions).

They are located under about a 1.5 foot overhang, so they are shaded all the time. You can see about half of each of the the lifeboats, which are directly underneath your balcony. From inside your room, the view is completely unobstructed. I have sailed in Oosterdam VF5068, which is very similar. I enjoyed it, but if the price wasn't too much more, I'd get a VD or VC. Just my opinion, though!

The deck plans look like the VE verandahs are smaller but when I talked to a person from HAL she said they are 73 sq. ft. on VE cabins and 60 sq. ft. on VD cabins - I think she has the wrong info.

As fann1sh said, the VE are 40.5 (4.5' x 9') and the VD are 67.5 (7.5' x 9'). The deck 5 VF are the same as the VE, and the deck 4 VF are the same as the VD.

Are the balconys deck 4 VD larger than the VC on deck 5?

Yes, 1.5 feet deeper - same width, 9 feet.

Thanks, BettyYes. The side VA/VB/VC are all 6' x 9'. Here is a pic of 2 and a fraction deck 5 VC. Note how the deck 4 railings stick out about 1.5 ft.
