The Ryndam and the Statendam are side by side today in the Port of San Diego. For those of us who can't go watch them sail away this evening, we'll just have to get our fix here (http://live6.truelook.com/face/newface.jsp?func=live&name=/ecodb/sandiego/oneamerica2&pan=-101.525635&tilt=-12.954346&panfov=15.472137&tiltfov=12.059653&overlay=default&skin=default&useapplet=true&time=1100969713019&width=640&height=480&quality=65&catalogname=catalog&imagemap.x=-55&imagemap.y=-41&imagemap.w=751&imagemap.h=563).

Hi Jim, Since we were there this morning getting off the Ryndam I can tell you that the Statendam just returend from Hawaii from a 16 day cruise. They had some pretty rough seas the last few days. I believe she was going back out on another 16 day Hawaii this afternoon. As for the Ryndam she just got into port this morning at 7:00 from doing the Sea of Cortez, seas were a little rough last night but not overly bad. She is heading back out at 5 pm with a very full ship 250 kids will be on board we were told with close to 1500 total passengers. This time she will be doing the Mexican Riveria for 7 days.

Neither HAL ship left at 5 pm, as we were on Shelter Island waiting to watch them cruise by. The ship berthed on the north side of the pier was just taking off when we drove away at 5:20. The Seven Seas Mariner sailed on time at 3 pm as scheduled. Less than 3 weeks till we leave on the Zui 12/11/04!

We were on the Ryndam today for a travel agent tour and lunch. She is actually sailing the Sea of Cortez this week and the Mexican Riviera next week. We are sailing next week and went to see our suite today. The Concierge told us that we picked the right week as this week the ship is very very full. They Ryndam looks exquisite and the crew were all very friendly. I do not think that HAL is achieving their goal of lowering the average age to 47 as most of the passengers were over 70 which is about 20 years older than we are.

Karen and BobNow there's good news, indeed! :)
Perhaps HAL will realize the demographic of it's loyal passenger base and return to gearing it's product to us.

Just got off the Amsterdam last week and most passengers were 75+. My husband felt like he was on a floating assisted living facility. I won't cruise HAL again.
