I will be on the Veendam 12/11/04, is there a Martini Bar aboard? What kind of martini selections and pricing do they have at other bars on Veendam? I am used to Celebrity's selections and pricing...hope HAL is similar but cheaper...:)
Carnival's martinis were absolutley horrendous:eek:
A week is too long without a good martini.

Believe me, this is NOT much, but there are a couple of prices here (http://xpeditionreviews.com/v-web/gallery/Zaandam-Review-Photos/PA270076_thumb?full=1). Unfortunately they are not dated. There are some nice pictures of the Zaandam (http://xpeditionreviews.com/v-web/gallery/Zaandam-Review-Photos) also.

No martinia bar on the Veendam, and as I don't drink them, have no idea how good they were. I am sure there are a lot of martini drinkers out there who can say whether they are good or bad!

Don`t know how good they were but on the Zaandam in April they had a large selection, mostly in the $6.95 range. They had a special on different ones each night for half price....jean

The Crows Nest on the Zuiderdam made a mean Cosmopolitan, I will say I had 2 the whole cruise and besides the painkillers on Tortolla this was the best drink all week long...the Miami Vice, Pina Colada, Lemon spritzer and a few other drinks were so sweet and void of much alcohol that it was like a kiddie cocktail. I suggest if you want a real good martini hit the Crows Nest and for a wonderful Spanish Coffee hit the Explorers Lounge. I am sure they have similar on your ship...

Statendam - no Martini Bar (on any HAL ship) - and no Martini specials any night - all were $6.95 and higher depending upon the special alcohol you wanted your martini made from.

HAL does not have a specific martini bar on any of it's ships....at least not in the same way that Celebrity has a separate martini bar. However, with the rise in popularity of martinis, especially the more exotic ones, most of the bartenders are able to fix a wide variety. Michael was in the Crow's Nest on the Oosterdam during our cruise and he was fantastic. HAL now rotates their bar staff from sailing to sailing.....Michael was moving to the Piano Bar for the sailing after ours...so you'd have to track him down if you go on the Oosterdam. I'd start with the Crow's Nest, our favorite lounge on any HAL ship, and work my way around from there. You'll either find the best bartender or have enough to drink it won't make a difference..... :D

Mmmmm...grapefruit cosmo...sounds yummy! I can survive with a good cosmo.
I will sure to visit Crow's Nest. A nice Cuban coffee after dinner sounds great.

:D Cuban coffee - I think the only Cuban coffee you will get is a regular coffee with a shot of rum and it won't be Cuban. Have never seen it on a HAL ship.
Maybe if you were in Canada, you could get some but not on a ship sailing out of a US port. :p DH loves his Cuban cigars which we have no problem getting here in Canada.

I most always have a specialty coffee after dinner in the Explorers lounge, but have never seen a Cuban coffee listed on the menu.....jean

Ok, well I'm sure they will have a jamaican coffe...yum...coffee with Myer's rum...that'll work. Any kind of flavored coffee after dinner is a treat.
