And, if another country is involved, I always recommend some local currency.
Cheers

Make pictures of your suitcase and make a document with this pictures and travel information incase your luggage will be lost on airport.
Print this document 3 times
one you keep in your luggage (makes it easyer to trace you)
one you give to HAL (they will help you to get your luggage back on time)
one you keep for yourself (use on the airport by lost and found).
Belief me it saves a lot of time if your luggage get lost.

I carry a flash drive with me which has this, plus all the above information mentioned by posters on it. First photo on my camera gives ship/cabin/name and home telephone number in case camera gets lost.

Very good idea, but atleast you should also have some on paper, makes it easyer to hand over.

Mesh backpack sure beats carrying a lot of shopping bags while you are trying to take a picture.
Extension cord, small flashlight, duct tape, luggage stickers so you can find yours amongst thousands of other bags.
Extra camera batteries and memory cards.
Potato chip bag clamp for the room curtains if sleeping late.
Cell phone charging cable - just don't use the phone while not in port or you will pay connection charges for the ship' tower ($$$$)

I always carry extra passport photos, as well as copy of passport, in case it gets lost or stolen.
As mentioned before, credit card information with foreign contact information, as well as US numbers (not kept with CCs), copy of prescriptions, extra glasses.

Just a quick question:
What is Customs Form 19 CFR 148.1 and where do I find one? I have express docs and can't find this on the website!

I believe that form is for your personal expensive items, cameras, lap top, jewelry, etc that may be considered something you bought while abroad that you should pay duty on when returning home. It just shows that you owned these things before you left the country. We used to do this when we were visiting Japan or, especially, Hong Kong in days gone by.
