Maasdam... how was it ?

Anyone back from MAASDAM this past week? any repairs , changes, good news ?

We sailed on Oct. 30th - Nov. 9th. Very disappointed. No AC in our suite for the first 8 days. Wont sail on HAL again.

Please read the series of reviews that I am beginning to post. Our cruise was great. Some problems and glitches, but overall very enjoyable. We are cruising Maasdam again April 21.

What suite were you in?

I am really glad that some folks had a good time on the Maasdam. We cruised on her Nov 9 and was very disappointed. Although out cabin was well layed out, the furnishings were old and stained. We had no air conditioning for three nights. There was a terrible smell in the hall ways, bear in mind though we were not in a suite we were on A deck, I guess you could say the cheap seats. Out toilet worked only half of the time and we were told by the ship personnel in the main office that the smell and the toilet problems were non existance.

The service was very good and I fealt really sorry for our room steward because the smell and the toilet problem that was non existant also reflected on him since others on that floor also had the same non existant problem.

The food was wonderful, some of the best we have had at sea.

We had a great time on the Lido our favorite bartender Rolando was a big hit with all of us.

As we sat and chatted with folks on the Lido we found loads of folks that were disappointed to say the least.

You always make the best of your cruise vacations which we did, we look for the positive but some days had a hard time doing so.

But we all learn from our experiences and this experience taught me two things. Do not stay in the Marriott Waterside, anothr story in itself, and do not sail on another Hal Ship. I am back to Celebrity.

As for the lady that was so ill. We all wishes her the best and I understand, since we got to know her daughter in law very well that she will be fine. Close call for her, good work on the part of the Ship Infirmary Staff and the Captain.

Marshanana, We are in "the cheap seats" also on our March 10 cruise, on A deck. What cabin were you in?

Wonderful, I am having a great time. We have a mini balcony suite and just love it. No complaints at all. Food wonderful. Be sure to read our postings from this week. Several of us are posting.

Alex, I am sorry that you had the same experience that we did. We were in cabin 8846. terrible room, engin noise unbearable, smell in the hall and toilet problems bad as well. I am a person who loves their cruises, and have found over the past three years that 7 days is not enough. I could hardly wait to get off of the Maasdam. That is sad to me. Back to Celebrity of
Carnival for me.
