We docked at Havensight! The shopping area was within walking distance, even for me, although there is a free trolley.

The shops are great, I guess, as I am not much of a shopper.

We took the shore excursion to Coral World and Magen's Bay. Coral World is worth another visit - one hour was hardly long enough. Next time we will take a taxi there and stay a bit. Feeding the stingrays was lots of fun - they are unexpectedly tame and kinda rubbery to the touch. Coki Beach was very close to Coral World - but didn't look too appealling to us. Magen's Bay was quite nice - even in the rain. It has restrooms, picnic tables, a bar, and shade for sunny days. Lots of cruisers were there, judging by the Holland America bags and Cunard beach towels - the Queen Mary was docked out in the harbor and had to tender in. Maasdam, with two RCI ships, was docked at Havensight.

Overall St. Thomas appears shabby to me. The roads are atrocious and the drivers are worse! The downtown is congested and needs some TLC. But get out into the country and the island has real possibilities!

You are the lucky ones.

Everyone has been reporting that the HAL ships have been docking at Crown Bay - which has nothing.

We love shopping at Havensight.

You were lucky, we were on the Maasdam Oct 30 and docked at CB. I don't know if it's true, but I heard that they reserve the places at Havensight for ships that round-trip every week, unless there's an open berth.
Crown bay will have shopping that will actually look nicer than Havensight when it is finished this spring.
I went to Coki beach this time and liked it better than Megen's Bay, primarily because it was less crowded, and it was still a lovely sight. Those of us who live on the East Coast are used to large expansive beaches, and neither Coki or Megen's is very wide. Not much room for folks to spread out. Still had a good time, but I bet the cab would have been cheaper from Havensight to Coki than it was from Crown Bay.
