I haven't gone back to read all the posts but our travel agent just had a visit from her NCL rep and was told that there was a curtain from the ceiling dividing the shower/toilet/sink area from the sitting bed area. Hope she's right and this puts the matter to rest. I agree that some people are comfortable in the all-together but try telling that to a teenager.

If the NCL rep did say this, they were incorrect. "Bathroom" sink is not behind the curtain per the posted cabin pics/video.

Just off a family cruise and I bunked with my niece(13) and nephew(9). There was always traffic in and out of the cabin when someone was in the bathroom. I'm pretty sure setting up shower/toilet schedules and rules "I'm showering, you either stay in the cabin or out of the cabin until I'm done" would not have worked very well.

I see the potty talk is still going on. LOL Now that they've posted pictures/video, it can put everyone's wondering to rest and make a good decision for themselves on whether or not they can handle the new room layout. :)

To those going on the first 2 nighter..take pics of the bathroom inside and out.. and a few pics of you standing in the shower...so that people can see how the frosted glass is to put their minds to rest...and to keep the potty talk going..lol
lots and lots of pics of what ever you can get on the rooms too...

Oddly, I bet some of the complainers are also the ones looking for topless beaches. And surely they didn't grow up in a house where multiple people were sharing a single bathroom. If I could get out of the shower growing up while someone else (i.e. my dad) is sitting on throne in the bathroom, walking out of the shower into an open room is nothing.

do people honestly shower and then completely dry off and dress before exiting the bathrooms in 'regular' cabins? I can't even imagine that. Once my shower is done, i grab a towel and get out of that tiny space and away from the steam and moisture - otherwise i feel like i'm getting all sweaty and need another shower!! I also hate hate hate to enter the bathroom when someone else is showering and making steam. I don't even like to go in my own bathroom at home during or immediately after someone's shower or hot bath (including my own) - and it's got much better ventilation!

As for modesty, i can't imagine wanting to go on a vacation and share a cabin on a cruise ship with anyone i wasn't comfortable around in a robe at least. For those who are uncomfortable with the idea of your travelling companions seeing you in a state of undress... Are you planning to wear a bathing suit by the pool?

My mother is travelling with us on the epic. She'll be sharing a balcony cabin with me, my daughter, and my husband. The four of us stayed in an inside cabin together on the dream a couple of years ago as well, and we had no issues whatsoever. I don't expect any issues on the epic either. We'll be four adult-sized people in a cabin, sharing the space, sharing the shower, sharing the sink, sharing the toilet... From my perspective having all of those things separated will be fantastic. My mom will be able to brush her teeth while my husband is in the shower - and vice versa.

Even if people just simply cannot shower if there is a chance that someone might catch the slightest glimpse of their bare skin, is it really so difficult to just respect each other? Face the wall and read while your companion changes - or go up on deck! Regardless of whom i was travelling with, if they requested privacy, i would be happy to head up on deck while they showered, dressed, or whatever. Since i also absolutely believe that the squiggly line visible on the cabin layouts is a privacy curtain, the only real compromise a cabin-mate would have to make is to promise not to open the door to the corridor for a few minutes before and after the shower when there's a chance of exposure.

I find it amazing that this is such a deal breaker for so many people. Please don't get me wrong, i completely respect anyone's decision to book or not book based on any criteria they want. It's just that i'm actually very much looking forward to this new design - i feel like i've had to 'endure' tiny cramped steamy bathrooms on every other cruise, so it's hard for me to understand why this is such a big deal that people wouldn't just make a few compromises to be able to 'endure' it and enjoy the epic.

amen!!!!!!!!!

Am I missing something? the number of discussions and debates over the shower are unbelievable. It is one of the most discussed topics in the world ever.
You can see through the glass! oh dear! you can see you're in the toilet! oh dear!
The majority of people must be either married or with partners, surely you won't be seeing anything that you haven't seen before?
Or are people being to modest and "saintly" for the sake of writing on the forum?
Oh dear! Oh dear!
If you ever go on holiday to some parts of Greece you are lucky if there is a door or a curtain dividing the shower room from the rest of the apartment.

Did you see the pictures I posted in the other thread? The lighting in those little units is awesome! People traveling in them are in for a treat, I think.

I wonder if Jo Anne (the OP) is still keeping up with this thread or has everyone put her off cruising for all time.
Regarding the Femal Urinal - it definitely needs an instruction booklet. Is it possible to use it if wearing trousers(pants)

hi there yes i`m still here following the thread. No it hasn`t put me off cruising nothing could do that:D but i have booked freedom of the seas for our next cruise. i really dont like the glass doors on the toilet and shower as my granddaughter will be sharing with us .i know there is a curtain but i dont like the sink in the main room either so its just a matter of what suits thats the beauty of all the differences on the ships we can pick what suits us happy cruising

This thread has certainly had a long and storied run since it's inception. It's been so entertaining because of the many and varied types of humor....I've laughed until I cried.

Glad to see you are still around and not "put off" by the direction your simple question took. I see you are in Northern Ireland. That is also one of my dream vacation trips......I have all the info and am just waiting on my hubby to retire...

Have a lovely cruise Jo Ann! and thanks for starting this thread.
