Does HAL sell drink coupons? I have read elsewhere on Cruise Critic about some of the cruise lines selling books of coupons, whereby if you purchase a package containing four or six drink coupons, the cost is discounted vs. buying each drink individually?
I don't recall seeing anything like that on Westerdam, but maybe I wasn't looking in the right place. If it's available, I'd probably take advantage of it. Not that we're heavy boozers, but 4 drinks wouldn't last two adults very long on a 10-day cruise!

I've never heard of coupons on HAL. You can get the 10-drink cocktail cards that could save you a little $ depending on your drink of choice.

HAL has drink cards, wine cards ( house wines ) , soda cards and coffee cards all which offer a bit of a discount but you can get them on the ship. Before you get one ask them to explain to you how they work- if I remember correctly they can be used on certain drinks in a specific price range.

The Westerdam did sell the wine cardsm coffee cards, soda cards, and drink cards. We spent 26 days in 2008 and 21 days in 2009 on the Westerdam.
Soda card -- $20.70 for 20 glasses of soda -- this is about 1/2 can of soda.
Cocktail card - $64.69 for 10 cocktails -- made with house alcohol. Premium brands -- there will be an extra charge.
House wine card -- 10 glasses for $41.40
House wine card -- 20 glasses for $77.63
Coffee card -- 10 speciality coffees at the Exploration's Cafe.
All prices above include the 15% gratuity.

Thanks for the info, KrazyKruizers.
$6.47 per drink if we buy 10 at a time -- what does that save vs. buying just one drink at a time?
I wonder if any Cruise Critic members have partially (un)used cards that they might be willing to sell? Or are they ship- and cruise-specific?

I wonder if any Cruise Critic members have partially (un)used cards that they might be willing to sell? Or are they ship- and cruise-specific?They are marked as good only for the "duration of the cruise", but they are often honored on later cruises on different ships. CC members often leave cards with a few punches remaining in the Bible in the nightstand, so flip through there when you get aboard. However, if you find one, I wouldn't present a card with just 2 or 3 punches left to a steward on the first day. :)

We sometimes drink Stoli's on the rocks -- which is $5.50 a drink -- you lose money on that card.
Other times we will have Grey Goose on the rocks -- $6.50 -- not covered by the card -- if we bought the card and used it on this drink we would be charged $.03 for each drink.
