They all look so exciting but we are a family of four ( 2 young adults along )so must spend wisely. Which is the best way to see the rain forest?.. to walk it, tram it or row it???? Need feedback asap because we are going on the Rotterdam holdday cruise and I think it will be full up. thank you. Sharon

I assume that you will be on the Caribbean side since you mentioned the Rotterdam.
In Puerto Limon, Costa Rica, we did the Tortuguero Canal excursion - loved it.

I agree with Krazy Kruizers and Peaches, did this tour last March, LOVED IT. This was probably the best excursion I have done for the money. I highly recommend it. If you do decide to do this excursion, be sure to take an early time for this as some of the animals seek shade and cool in the afternoon, but they are out early morning.
Don't forget to get your coffee while in Costa Rica, you can order it onboard the ship from Cafe Britt. I order my coffee through this company now, its all I drink. As a matter of fact, I just put an order in yesterday for more. Check it out on the web, its www.cafebritt.com enjoy your cruise.

When we docked in Puerto Limon last December, we took the bus tour to the rain forest tram in Braulio Carillo National Park. The bus tour was interesting, stopping at a banana plantation and getting a lot of Costa Rica history from the guide. We had a nice buffet lunch in a covered pavilion at the rain forest, then took the aerial tram. It was a nice peaceful ride above the tree tops, but we saw almost NO animals. So if your kids want a little more excitement, maybe the other tours are for you.
DH agrees with the coffee suggestion above. He's been ordering Britt coffee on the internet ever since!

Try going to the Ports of Call board and checking out Costa Rica. We have been pleased with the insider advice we get there!!

Are you on the 12/22 Rotterdam cruise? Have you checked out the Roll Call boards?

We did white water rafting through a rain forest (on a Carnival cruise) - I can't remember the name of the tour but it was excellent. Each raft had its own guide thankfully because ours really steered the boat. Our guide was a college student who gave us information about the fauna, animals, and history of Costa Rica. It was so beautiful.
