Hello,

We chose the second balcony cabins on the Zuiderdam on Deck 5, is this balcony as windy as I am reading on other posts, we can sit out or is it that bad we can't?

I was in cabin 6006 - Upper Verandah deck on the Z. It was the second cabin from the bow. During sea days at times it was very windy. Other times not to bad. However, it was very noticable compared to other balcony cabins that I have had. In the future I would prefer cabins further back.

i was in 6004 Upper Verandah on the Z ... we were having gale-force winds and i opened the door ... felt i was going to get sucked out & pitched overboard!
it is pretty windy out there when the ship is moving ...

Wow, that bad? I guess its like when you go on the top deck of any ship and stand up there and the wind is so great, were you able to sit outside at all? I am in the next cabin deck below in cabin number 5006 so it will be the same way as you experienced. I also heard about the awful air conditioning problems the Zuiderdam has (people feel its too warm of a ship in public areas and inside the cabins) have you experienced lack of air conditioning problems?

Also, can four people squeeze out on the balcony and is there room to put a small third chair or a stood from the cabin? Was that side of the ship mostly sunny on the balcony or in shade when you docked in ports and at sea?

Thanks a bunch.

When I was on the Z last year, our weather was really bad, so I did not sit outside much.
Plus, my mother and sister were along on the cruise, and they had an inside room, so to be togther, we all sat up by the pool.
The balcony had 2 chairs and a hassock, as I recall. OK for 3 ... 4 might be a little crowded.
We did not have an A/C problem on the ship.

This past Nov. I cruised on the Oosterdam - same type of cabin & balcony. The weather was much nicer and I did sit out on the balcony quite a bit.

I really can't recall whether it was sunny or not -- I think the balcony above us made it shady! I am not a sun worshipper, so if it had been sunny, I wouldn't have been sitting outside!

We were port side this year on the O; starboard on the Z.
