Does anybody have any suggestions on finding out who will be in port on January 4, 2004. I am trying to decide if it's worth getting a Cabana or just hope to get one of the smaller ones on the beach that are free standing, assuming they are still there. Do we anchor with any other cruise lines at Half Moon Cay as I've been told we do? The only ones we've ever anchored with was the Statendam, otherwise we have always had the island to ourselves.

Here is a very useful URL that can be used in a variety of ways - including to find out which ships are in what port on any particular day (or scheduled to be in that port).
Cruise Calendar (http://www.cruisecal.com/dnn/default.aspx)
Unfortunately, this site works only with Internet Explorer.
Enjoy!!

Looks like the Volendam is the only ship in HMC on January 4, 2005, which I guess is the date you meant and not 2004. :D
Gather you are on the Volendam?
The clam shells are still there and all but 2 of the Cabanas, I believe, have been repaired. You may be too late to book a cabana, but it's worth a try. Big difference in price though - $9.0 US for clam shell and over $200US for cabana - convert that into Cdn $'s and it's expensive. :D
Thanks Allen, for recommending the Cruise Calendar. Great site.

Thanks so much everybody, it's good to know we'll be alone. We didn't book the clamshell the last time, just took one. Can you book those online? I didn't see anywhere.

I just used cruisecal for the first time and it's GREAT. Thanks for the link.
Veendam will be alone at HMC for our short stay. We leave at 2:00. Our last day aboard is a sea day. Does it take from 2:00 P.M. on Thursday until 8 A.M. Saturday to get to Tampa?

I would suggest that it might because we have always left from Half Moon at 4:00 the day before to get to FT. Lauderdale, and Tampa is further yet.

Yes, Tampa is further up Florida's coast But we have a full day at sea following our stop at HMC. HMC on Thursday; disembark on Saturday.

Yes, you can book them online. Go to HAL's home page, click on "for booked guests" and you will see Shore Excursions. Just fill out the form - they will ask for your credit card #. and send you a confirmation via e-mail. Make sure you take a copy of the e-mail with you just in case there is a mix-up. If by any chance the ship is not able to stop at HMC, they will refund your money. I just finished booking one for our January cruise.
It used to be that you could just go over to the island and grab a clamshell, but now they charging for them, so you can't do that anymore.

Here's the question though. I saw it and I have booked it for myself as my husband and son don't really care about staying out of the sun. However, it covers two deck chairs and I've been in it, it's plenty big. Do I have to pay for both of them to use it or can I just pay for me and they use it as well.
This is what we intend to do.

Your $9.00 gives you two chaise lounges and one clamshell. I would imagine that once you are settled, the three of you can change off as to who is in the chairs. Doubt they will station staff to chase one of you away.

If it become an issue I'll pay them for the other two just seems ridiculous to pay $9.00 per person when it'll easily house all of us and I've bought it anyway. The other cabanas are a one person deal.

Do not worry....you are paying $9 for the whole shebang....clamshell and the 2 lounge chairs. You or anyone else you want can use it, it's not $9/head.

When you book online it indicates it would like all 3 of you to pay. That's why I shimmied around the question.

There will be 3 of us on our next cruise and I only paid the $9.00 for one clam shell. I just booked it under my name and that's all there was to it. The $9.00 is for one clam shell and 2 lounges. Try again!

No I booked just for the one of us, but when I was originally looking at the cabana, it specifically said, only one person is to pay, then when I selected it filled in everybodies name under my name. I then decided that we didn't want to do that is a clam shell was available. When I went to the clamshell I selected just myself and it indicates there to fill in each name for the $9, and does not specifically say only one person need pay.
I figured myself that is was just the one person needed to pay, just thought I'd clarify.

I don't think this site is very accurate. Checked it for the day we will be at HMC on 12/18 on the Westerdam. It shows the Prinsendam being there the same day, but I know for a fact that the Prinsendam will not be there until the following day.

We, too, used CruiseCal to help determine how many ships would be in port. We found two errors on our 11/20 Zui cruise:
~ CruiseCal showed two ships at Half Moon Cay for 11/21 but fortunately we were the only ship:)
~ CruiseCal showed only one ship at Tortola for 11/24 (Zui) but we had two ships (which I had seen two ships on another website but wasn't real sure what to believe until we arrived). Not sure if having two ships in Tortola caused our delay, but our original posted port times of 7A-6P ended up being 8:15A (when gangway was able to be disembarked) to 5P (back onboard at 4:30).
