I know Everyone here warned me and you can give me a BIG "I TOLD YOU SO"

So we get home and start thinking about our upcoming cruises. It was so nice having a suite, but that was for a special occaision. We really should not spend the money right??
Well, you can guess I called our TA Monday she has been working on prices for me the last 3 days and called me today. She matched a good price I found on line so we now have cabin S7051 on the Rotterdam deck for the Westerdam. We also had her check into upgrading for our Maasdam cruise next July. It currently shows "closed" It is over 7 months away???
But then this also happened on the Ryndam, so we are wait listed for the Maasdam for a Suite. Then we had already booked an aft Suite for the Oosterdam next October. I guess I need to work a little harder and not spend as much time on Cruise Critics to pay for these up coming cruises.

Here's your chance to tell me "I told You SO!!!!!"

Now just me a sign that says "Will work for Cruise":D

Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. Once you have experienced the "suite" life, it is hard to turn back. DH is now hooked on the PS, so be warned.:D :D :D

Good for you - WE ALL TOLD YOU SO! - the suite life is so great.

We had 7054 on the Oosterdam - loved the location.

For the Westerdam we have 7053 in January.

Now just me a sign that says "Will work for Cruise"I can't say "I told you so" because we haven't tasted the suite life yet, but I do know that cruising can be addictive. I believe the more amenities you have, the more you want ... or the more you don't want to not have them.

Your quote above made me laugh because just a few minutes ago DH and I were listening to a program where a woman was giving part of her liver to her ailing husband. DH asked if I would do the same thing for him (like I wouldn't!), and my reply was "Sure, if there's a cruise in it for me!" :D

Smooth "Suite" Sailing! :) :) :)

Let's hope none of us must have our livers chopped up in order to cruise again!!! And for our DH (DW's) to not need them!

But I do understand your point :)

*LOL*

Thats funny,

Not too long ago as fiancee and i were out making wedding plans, we started getting into a very serious hypothetial conversation, (as she occasionally gets me into) and she asked me would I still love her and stay with her if God forbid something happened and she was horribly disfigured or disabled. Would I give her a Kidney or whatever Of course we both said we would if god forbid that happened to the other.

On the way home we stopped at a Mexican restaurant and I ordered a Margarita . My fiancee told me "Hey easy with MY liver and Kidneys " *LOL*

Well we got "hooked" on the "S" (7017) last year on the Amsterdam so in Jan 05 it is 7053 on The Osterdam. Before it is all over some day it WILL BE a PH.:D

LOL ... be glad you found such a pleasing addiction! Tragicially, lots of folks don't know the secret to having a good time and enjoying the resources they've been blessed to earn.

You know, there was a time when I worked extra hard to accumulate "treasures." You know ... the really nice things ... material possessions. I was always wanting to upgrade to a better house, nicer furnishings ... those sorts of things. But, now that I've grown a bit older, and either smarter or dumber ... you decide ... I'd much rather work so that I can enjoy the money by having neat experiences ... and cruising is one of them. I think the difference is that now I work to live (or live it up perhaps) instead of living to work. I don't know ... somehow that doesn't actually sound all that unhealthy to me.

Of course, cruising is my "staid" addiction. Some of the other "experiences" I've enjoyed in the past have been bungee jumping off a 265-foot bridge in Costa Rica, taking aerobatic plane flights in Kissimmee, Fl. with Warbird Adventures, and various skydiving vacations. The latest "adventure" I have my sights set on is that GravityOne plane that's based in Fort Lauderdale ... where you pay $3 grand to go up and float like an astronaut for an hour. But, I gotta wait to do that one. Seems I don't have an extra $3 grand lying around right now. :) And, of course, at least in my case, it will be far more than $3 grand. After all, can't travel all the way from Philadelphia to Fort Lauderdale without jumping on a cruise too, right? :)

Blue skies ... and enjoy all of your wonderful cruises!

Rita - good points made. Also, you need to do these things while you are still young and healthly enough to do them! A friend of mine has LOTS of money but due to his wife's health problems they cannot travel far from home, so he gets very bored staying in town. What a shame.
Enjoy what you have and be thankful for it all. You never know what the future will bring.
Happy Thanksgiving to All.

DH and I suffer from the same affliction. I still prefer suites on the non-vista class ships.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa!!!! Hey, go for it. You can't take it with you after all.;)

We've not experienced the "suite" life and we won't for this very reason. I remember when we booked the Verandah for the first time. I'd always been perfectly happy without one. Now I won't even get on a ship without a Verandah. So I know me and if I do a suite once for a special occasion then I'm done for.:o

On our upcoming Celebrity I did move up to Concierge Class, but that's nothing close to a suite.

Anyway, Lisa, it makes you happy so you should have it. End of story.

Oh, no. We have our first suite on the Oosterdam in Feb. It's for a special occasion also....

I agree with Heather--after having a balcony I can't sail without one. The suite in Feb may bring on a new ....no, this is just for a special occasion.....

cruznon, I hate to tell you this but this past Ryndam Suite was going to be a one time thing for my 50th B-Day. By day two we were so hooked, by day 5 we just knew we could never cruise again with out a suite, Well never say never if we get really desperate for a cruise and there are no Suite or if a buget restraint should ever occur:eek: I think from know on we will have to book a Suite. We are now going to be in a Suite for the Westerdam, we already had a SS catagory so the jump was not that much (unfortuately money wise it was) and we are on a waitlist for our Maasdam cruise in July. I find that amazing that it is already closed for the Suites. I also saw where only the 8:30 Dinner seating is available for this cruise the other 3 are wait listed. Luckily we already have confirmed 6:15 Seating. We also already had a Suite booked for our October 2005 cruise.
So another words I will warn you, It is very addictive.:D

Lisa

Welcome to the suite life.

So glad that you were able to get suites on nearly all of your up-coming cruises. Maybe something will happen and you will get your suite on the Maasdam in July. Do you know what number you are on the waiting list?

We don't always get a suite, but when we do, oh my, we are in heaven!........:D

I can already feel myself sitting on the veranda as we sail out of Port Everglades!! 3 days to go and my packing is getting closer:)
We leave out of here on Tuesday so I still have time to pack stuff like duct tape and blenders:):D Can almost taste that volcano cake now.

Localady, have a absolutely wonderful cruise and when you have your first bite of Volcano Cake, just think of all your friends on the HAL board.:p

KK, HAL told our TA to call back the first of December. This same thing happened to us when we first booked the Ryndam. We had booked in late May and had wanted at least a Balcony but there were none. Plus I did not like the cabins they showed available for outside cabins. I would never book a guarantee. So we booked an Inside cabin on the Navigation Deck. A few weeks later I just knew there was going to be no way I could handle an Inside cabin and really wanted that veranda so our TA had us put on a wait list and saying we would possibley take a S Suite. That was a Friday Monday Noon I get the call that a S Suite became available so we grabbed it. Amazingly later that same day about 10 S Suite became available along with many A and B catagories. So currently that is the way it is for the Maasdam in July and I am guessing HAL is putting a hold on them or some big group came and snagged most all the cabins. My guess since HAL told our TA to call back the first of December they must know that they will open up more cabins.
