View Full Version : EPIC deckplan - what's the empty square on decks 9-13?

Any ideas what the empty square mid-ship on the EPIC decks 9-13 is? I'm considering balcony cabins 10179/10180 on the hump, but don't know if that empty space is going to be something noisy? I've seen it suggested that this might be air conditioning equipment?
I know the deck plans might not be accurate yet, but if there's a chance of a larger balcony there, with a better view then I'm tempted!
Thanks.

NCL typically does not disclose "what" is in the non-passenger areas of a ship. My guess is that you would have to wait until Epic sails and there are real-life experiences by passengers to share. They know exactly where the passenger cabins are....they are already on the ship now....no chance in my opinion that when done, some blanks space on the deck plans becomes a magic unplanned cabin.

These spaces are more than likely storage and crew stairs. Any crew quarters that are on these levels would be centered around the bridge, for officers and senior staff.

We once booked a room next to an empty space on RCCL. Not going to make that mistake again! It was a crew's kitchen room - where they clean off the room service stuff and ??? Anyways, lots and lots of banging. Ugggh! Lesson learned.

OP mentioned empty squares mid-ship .... I had a look and one thing came to mind .... service elevators.

Thanks for the ideas. In order to get one of those rooms (which are probably considered desirable because of the chance of a larger balcony) I'd have to book before there are any reviews. Think I might move a bit further forward and not risk it for my first cruise!

I agree! There could also be the "launderette" w/i that area too. I not worried, my thought "I'm on this wonderful, beautiful new ship on our balcony cruising to the caribbean enjoying our bar setup, all is good with the world".;)

Since they have eliminated the self-service laundries on the rest of the ships in the fleet, I find it difficult to believe that the space in question could be a "launderette". More likely are some of the other suggestions: storage space, crew stairs, etc.:)

I had another thought - maybe they are the living room areas for the studio rooms. The studio rooms have a 2 story bar/living room type area. This might be it?

I didn't realize they eliminated the laundries. It was on our cruise last year and every year before. That's a bummer, especially if someone is cruising to an extended period of time. I know, you can have the ship's laundry do it...but there are just some items better left private! LOL
