Does anyone know whether the Spa Suites(SA) have the same access to the courtyard like the Penthouse (AC) do. It seems everytime I ask I get different answers.

I currently have an SA Spa Suite booked for Sept 2010. I have been told by NCL that they have received an email confirming that this category will have courtyard access. I have also heard that it is a stated benefit on the brochure for the european ncl site. I am not counting on the courtyard access but it will be a huge plus when we board if it is available. As long as we have our VIP breakfast and lunch I will be ok. I just do not see the SA suites being the only suites without access as I really do not see 16 more people (8 staterooms) making that huge of a difference.

I had to book in Oct in order to get an AC, they were all sold out, but I really would like the SA, I wanted to try a different location. I did aft on the Dawn and will be back in the aft in Feb on the Gem. Does anyone know where breakfast & lunch will be.

I think I read that there is a restaurant area inside the courtyard area. I would think that is where breakfast and lunch will be.

Suite breakfasts and lunches are in Cagney's on the GEM

Yes, you have access. With the price increase of Epic's suites, they will all have access to the Courtyard. This way you will want to be in them on a future cruise.
I heard that breakfast & lunch is the steahhouse, not Epic Club. If you want to dine at the Epic Club there will be a Specialty Restaurant charge.

And yet the Director of Marketing told me it IS the Epic Club for breakfast & lunch (for suites)....but that dinner would be a speciality charge.

Not according to the descriptive information that accompanies the NCL booking engine. I just did a test booking for the June 24 TA cruise, and the Spa suites talk about access to the spa, while the other suites describe access to the courtyard.

Several of us have confirmation in writing that Courtyard access is included.

Coincidentally, my Epic brochure arrived today. It has the same wording I saw on the Web site. I'm interested in the answer because we're considering booking a Spa Suite for the June 24, 2010 TA. If it includes Courtyard access that would make it all the more attractive.

I booked an AC Suite back in August, never got an answer in writing and now with a $600 pp increase, I'll just buy the spa pass. I do like the aft cabins and I wanted the courtyard, this way I can have both, just not an access key to the spa.

From the Director of Public Relations.
I'm also booked in a Spa Suite for the TA.
Here's what she said in email:
"Question #2: The spa suites will include keycard access to the thermal suite/fitness center. The exact hours that the thermal suite will be open is still being determined, but these suites surround the spa, so the main feature is that you are in very close proximity to both the spa and fitness center.
Spa suites will have access as well to The Villas area (courtyard complex on Deck 14) which includes daily VIP breakfast and lunch in The Epic Club which is the Courtyard restaurant. Access to the Epic Club for non-suite guests has not yet been determined/finalized.
A spa suite (SA) is similar to a Courtyard Penthouse (A4) in terms of layout. The main difference is that the spa suite has the in-suite whirlpool tub and is located adjacent to the spa. The Courtyard Penthouse is located in The Villas which gives close proximity to the amenities of the Courtyard area."

Thanks. What I can't understand is that if the SA Spa suites are the same size as the A4s , have access to the same facilities and amenities, such as the Courtyard and the Epic Club, but have the added benefit of keycard access to the thermal suite/fitness center, and an in-room whirlpool tub, why is the price for the TA cruise currently $550 per person less than the A4s? Something doesn't add up. You're getting more than the A4s for a lot less money...which is why I question the access to the Courtyard for the SAs...particularly since mention of it is conspicuously absent from both the Web site booking engine and the brochure.

Some quotes from the printed European NCL brochure:
"Posh Beach Club is exclusively accessible for guests in Suites and Villas"
"Access to exclusive Courtyard area [...] on board N. Epic as well for Penthouse and Spa Suites"
"Courtyard restaurant for guests in Suites and Villas"
"Courtyard bar for guests in Suites and Villas"
Epic club isn't mentioned but I see no reason why access to that shouldn't be for all Suites. If the Spa Suites don't have access to the Epic Club, does it really matter much?

My contact mentions Epic Club for breakfast and lunch.
For Courtyard Villas, dinner is included too....so if that was a $25 surcharge for others, but included for CV...then that's $125 for the week.
Some extra for the privacy and seclusion that a CV brings.
Some extra for the proximity to the Courtyard (not having to roam the entire ship to get there).
I don't really know....only know what I've been told.

Not much of the pricing adds up. Don't try and apply logic. The A4/A7 and A3 are currently the same price. 238 SF vs 450 SF in the courtyard. Early last week the delta between an A3 and the SA was only $200 pp.
That $550 you mentioned is the current delta between a SA and an A3. That seems logical with both getting the same perks. I did hear from contacts in Miami explaining the A3 pricing. The fact is there are more A3s (44) then all other suites combined. A big difference from the 8 available on the Jewel class ships.
When I moved from the AC to the A3 late Tuesday at the end of the waitlist period I had a choice of every port side A3. NCL is going to have to work hard to fill them every cruise. The change in deposit and cancellation rules is one step to make that possible. With the number to fill pricing for A3 seems to be more like ABs on the other ships.
One thing I have learned about NCL pricing is it often has no logical explanation.

It's $550 between A4 and SA, with both being the same size, which is why I find it to be odd. The A3 is $50 pp more...but it is a much bigger cabin...a Courtyard Villa. The price differential between A3 and SA makes sense based on cabin size. A4 and SA doesn't as they are the same size, and you actually get additional perks with the SA...for much less money.

The net of my point. Don't look at the A4 pricing. They are pricing the CV to drive bookings to the A3s. That are not pricing logically to the SA or AC.
"This is not how we would “normally” position. On this ship, we have the most A3 cabins and very limited inventory on the other categories"

I think there's also a design premium on the SA & AC...with the round beds, and the upgraded decor.....

I just confirmed with Miami that the SA's will have access to the Courtyard, the Epic Club and bar and Posh + the spa access! It is on the new brochures. When I called on it initially the rep told me no on the restaurants/bar but after checking with Miami HQ they confirmed YES they do.

Hi there, I was wonderin' if you know about those round beds? My DD and I would love a spa suite, we are booked on a Spa deluxe right now...
do those beds come apart and is there only sleeping for 2?
She does not want to sleep with me..I snore:eek:

That would be a true queen round bed and will not come apart and like many NCL penthouses only sleeping for 2. :(

Thanks..that's what I thought. Yes, I don't understand why you have to go up so expensive to get a suite/penthouse with 2 beds!
Oh well, we will enjoy our Deluxe Spa and will have extra money to spend:D

That's an easy fix! Go to Shoppers Drug, and get a pack of foam earplugs!
The beds are Queen-sized beds, which do NOT separate. :)
