Now that we have booked suite 7051 for the Westerdam in March I have been trying to find some good pictures of the cabin and bathroom. What I am finding may make me realize why the S Class is better. Those who have had both like Sail and KK did the room lay out seem smaller? Did you like the bathroom and dressing area OK? It does not seem to be as nice as the Ryndam was. I really liked the mirror closets in the dressing area. All the mirrors were so great for doing my hair. Am I going to realize why everyone likes the S Class better?

Lisa,
From what I gather - the balconies on the vista class are smaller and there is less drawer space. We will be on the Westerdam Dec 12-19 and I will be able to compare and take pictures for you if you like. We are in 7055. We have previously sailed in an S cabin on the Zaandam.

Thanks Kris, that would be wonderful. I have been searching Webshots and don't really see a lot of pictures. I will say that I was very impressed with the layout of the suite on the Ryndam especially the mirror closets and all the drawer space. I bet we only used 1/3 of the drawers, but it was great to have them. It was a drastic change from the Zuirderdam and Oosterdam Cat. B that had No drawers to speak of.

Suites on Vistas are smaller than on S and R class ships. My recall is that the dressing area is also smaller and I do not recall a mirrored dressing table on Vistas, but then again, I don't have enough hair to worry about.

Last January we had three of us in a suite on the Maasdam and there was plenty of drawer and closet space. The funny thing is that with the free laundry service in the suites you actually need less drawer and closet space!

Vista Deluxe Suites have a mirrored dressing table and mirrored closet doors in the dressing room. Does anyone know about the SS suites on Vista class?

For what it is worth, Deluxe Verandah Suites on Vista class ships have 510 square feet. The same category Suite on S class ships have 556 square feet.
I do not know if the dressing room on the Vista ships are correspondingly smaller. As it has been frequently mentioned the balconies are smaller.

Candy, there is no dressing room in the SS suite on the Vista. The bathroom is good size with twin sinks, a jacuzzi and a shower.

The things I didn't like about the suite on the Vista class ships.
You enter the drssing room area from the "hallway" - where you enter the cabin. That means that if I am in my closets or sitting at the dressing table, I have to move in order for DH to get into the bathroom. On the 'S' class ships you enter the dressing area from the bedroom side. Also the bathroom door opens into the dressing area so - again - if I am in the dressing area and DH comes out of the bathroom - boom I get hit with the bathroom door.
There are a lot less drawers in the Vista ships but more closets. DH had the 2 1/2 closets as you enter the room and I had the 3 in the dressing room. The extra shelving makes up for the lost drawer space. The are 2 drawers under the foot of the bed but we were unable to use them - bedspreads were already stored there. There were lots of small cabinets that you could tuck things into.
The balcony is much smaller - but we don't spend a lot of time out there. There aren't any lounge chairs - 2 regular chairs with ottomans and a small cocktail table in between them. The table is smaller than on the 'S' ships but it still does have 4 chairs around it. The verandahs aren't as deep.
In the bathroom there are dual sinks - no sink in the dressing area. Husband liked the idea of a separate shower even though it was small. I like the tub as it wasn't as high as on the other ships.
When we got back from the Oosterdam - I posted a complete discription of the room, closets, everything. Unfortunately that thread was lost when CC changed over to VBulletin.

Thanks KK, I think I might have gotten spoiled with having our first suite on the Ryndam. I really liked the dressing area on that ship and the small sink, I am one that is constantly washing my hands off after putting mousse in my hair, after putting on foundation on my face. etc etc that was just my area where DH had the bathroom. Plus getting up to find the bathroom in the middle of the night seemed easier. Wonder why they changed something that was already excellent???? Sounds like they at least have the mirrored closet doors.
Thanks for the info,

Everyone has well described the differences IMO. One thing that is better about the Vista Suite is the size of the tub. I don't have comparative measurements but it sure feels larger to me.
It still annoys me to no end how totally stupid the designer was to eliminate a full nine drawers and leave an empty space where 6 drawers are placed in the Suites on the other classes of ships. I find it to be a HUGE design error with no reasonable explanation. (There is another area in the cabin that can be used as a desk and a chair can be pulled up to it. It was a BAD idea to create a second desk at the price of 6 drawers.)
I like the design of the dressing room on the other ships better. I much rather have the second sink at my dressing table than in the bathroom.
Lisa.....the closet doors in the dressing room are mirrored.

Thanks Sail, I agree about the second desk. What were they thinking?? Not that we needed al the drawer space that was provided on the Ryndam but it was nice. I actually don't even see much of a need for one desk let alone two. If I am to sit down to write I like doing it out on the Verrandah or at least some place comfy. I know I will miss that extra sink in the dressing area.
Now if they just open up the closed catagory for our Maasdam cruise for July so I can upgrade that.

Fingers crossed a great location "S" opens up for you, Lisa. :)
It happened for us on one cruise. All the Suites were spoken for months in advance of sailing and we really wanted that cruise. We got lucky and a Suite freed up and we got it.
