Just reserved this hotel for 2 nights end of july. Has anyone stayed at this property? This is for a pre cruise stay before boarding the Zuiderdam on July 30. Any feedback would be great!

Dave,
We stayed here a couple of years ago for a night and I liked it very much. The secret is to ask for an oceanside room and stay at least a few floors up. I researched this hotel pretty thoroughly before we went. There were some online complaints of noise from people who had stayed on the first floor. We had no noise problems at all. The staff was very friendly. It is an older hotel but the rooms and beds were quite nice. It is one of very few hotels in Fort Lauderdale that are actually on the beach. It also has more character than most, with its ship-shape theme. We had a long enjoyable walk up the beach - there were very few people that day because it was cool and misty, so can't comment on the usual beach experience.
I was confidentially advised by a staff member that, while the restaurant there is okay, there are better ones you can go to for dinner. We asked our concierge to get us a taxi to 15th Street Fisheries (which I liked very much) and he gave us coupons for free key lime pie there. Hope you enjoy your stay there.

Yankee Clipper is a good place, close to the ship and right on the beach.
Across the street is Bahia Cabana. Great food and nice entertainment.
Very inexpensive. Also there is water taxi stop right at Bahia Cabana.
For about five bucks you can cruise Biscayne bay all evening for sight seeing
and shopping.
