What is the best way to get to the port from the Orlando Airport. Is there a shuttle (besides the ships, which we will not be using).
Haven't booked yet but will tomorrow. Planning to cruise on the Zaandam on December 11......not too much time left...........
Will arrive two-days pre-cruise.
Where to stay? Any suggestions, first time leaving from this port and know nothing about the area. Anyone booked a hotel on Priceline for this location? I usually have good luck with priceline.
What is there to do near the Port?
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

We are staying at the radisson at the Port which is very close to the dock. The radisson has a special rate that includes a free shuttle to the pier, and free parking for the length of the cruise.
There are airport shuttles to the Cape canaveral area from The airport in Orlando. Try a web search, there is one That I don't recall the name, that charges per person or per small group and it operates 24/7 (approx $50 for 3 people).
We are leaving on 12/28.

Thanks for the information.
How much are you paying at the Radisson for the accommodations? Usually Priceline has 3 and 4 star locations. However, they are only listing 2 star properties for that area. Not certain if there are any good hotels on Priceline for us for this cruise! If the price is right I'll try the hotel.
Thanks again

There are several car rental companies that will allow one way rental, Avis used to? As for the area- There is Cocoa Beach but the biggest attraction in the area is the Kennedy Space Center. If you have a car with you- you will be FAR better off in this area- public transportation will limit your activites.

There are a number of hotels in Cocoa Beach. The Comfort Inn offers transportation to the ship. FYI: The Cocoa Beach Hilton and Cocoa Beach Marriott Courtyard do not offer transportation to the ship.
You might also check the Holiday Inn Express. This new property may offer transportation to the ship.
Transfers from the Orlando Airport to the area around the ship vary in price. Sometimes it is just easier to take a cab. Or, you could rent a car in Orlando and drop it off near the ship on sailing day. The closest rental car agency to Cape Canaveral is "AVIS". The rental car company will take you to the ship after you drop off the car.

and you want to avoid the hilton. We stayed there in January this year and it is a DUMP!!! Have heard good things about doubletree and consistently about the radisson. As far as transport, no problem to rent a car at orlando airport and drop it off in cocoa beach. A limo is only about $100 one way. That's what the 4 of us did on our return from the ship to Orlando. Nice way to end up the trip. No fussing with busses or waiting to pick up and return rental car. Think the company we used was called classic carriages. They have a web site.

We are staying at the Disney All Star. We are being met at the airport by www.cartiertowncars.com (http://www.cartiertowncars.com/)They will drive us to Disney, pick us up after two days, drive us to the Port and pick us up after the cruise and take us back to the airport. We used them before, prices are reasonable and never having to worry about carting luggage around is great. Cars are beautiful and clean. Enjoy!

Like grannynurse, we are also staying at the Radisson. We have a nonsmoking king at $152.90 (taxes included). Also included is free parking for our 11 day cruise, which should save us $100.00 or so. :) :)
