Anyone know when Zaandam will switch from Port Cavaveral as home port to FLL? I know she will have moved by the holidays 2005, but not sure when.

According to the May 2004-Dec. 2005 Caribbean brochure her first cruise out of FLL is October 12, 2005....10 days. Ports are HMC, Curacao, Aruba, partial transit of Panama Canal and Costa Rica. This sounds like the Rotterdam's former itinerary.

That makes sense. The Rotterdam will do the South American cruises in late 2005 I believe.

Thanks.
That is like the itinerary we did on Rotterdam this past March.
So, it seems Zaandam will be sailing out of Canaveral until next October.

There won't be any cruise ship going out of Canavarel after the fall of 2005.
HAL didn't sign a new contract for that port.

I for one am happy to see Zaandam come back to FLL. We used to sail her and loved that ship but stopped when they moved her to Canaveral.

We did 7 day back-to-back cruises on her during her inaugural season.
Then when she started 10 day cruises, we did a couple of back-to-backs on her.
Hope she offeres some good itineraries.

I'm a great fan of Zaandam and am glad that she is coming back to Ft. Lauderdale. Does anyone know when Zaandam will finish her SOE upgrades?

:) We did back-to-backs on her also during her Inaugural Summer in the Caribbean. WE had a fabulous time and I still remember Nico Corbyn was Captain (and his wife Sheryl and young son were aboard), Nick Burger was Hotel Manager .....we had a fabulous time.
We also cruised (among other times) on Zaandam the first Thanksgiving after 9-11 and Captain Jack was aboard. We had a Captain's dinner with him....or maybe it was Suite dinner in Marco Polo and I was seated beside the Captain. I remember a really interesting conversation we had.
The details of some cruises seem to blur and fade one into the other. But other cruises are very special and stand out. I remember many details from those 'special cruises'. :)

Seeing as she is the last to get a Neptune Lounge, I would suggest it could possibly be quite some time until she gets all her SOE upgrades.

She goes into dry dock in Freeport early in January and will be completed by January 29/05

That is great news!!! :) Now I'll be looking to book her. I wasn't happy about sailing her without a Neptune Lounge. I don't much care about the other changes.

We just missed each other on the Zaandam in 2001. You were getting off the ship when we were getting on. Captain was also our captain. And we did have a suite dinner (among the last) in the Marco Polo.

this is bad  news for us. the zaandam is our favorite ship & we sail her often. pt. c. is just 45 easy minutes from us in kissimmee. hate that trip down to ft.l. oh well, what sacrifices we must make in life!!! :p
