Can anyone confirm that the Zaandam has a craps table?

If so, what are maximum odds? I've heard some cruise lines only offer 1X.

Also there is now a Casino forum, it can be found HERE (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=586)

I'm afraid that 10X or even 3-4-5 are shoreside options. I've only ever seen double on any cruise ship. As an aside...don't forget Craps isn't a popularity contest. The "Dont's" are actually a better bet;).

WHY? I thought the odds were the same whether to bet pass and take the odds or bet dont pass and give the odds.

The odds on "the odds" are exactly the same. They both pay true odds. For example, there are 6 ways to roll a 7 and 3 ways to roll a 10, therefore the odds (either pass/don't pass, come/don't come) pay 2-1 (or 1-2). It's the actual bet before you consider the odds that varies. Pass/Come carries a house advantage of 1.41%, Dont Pass/Don't Come carries a house edge of 1.36%.

Assuming you take/lay double odds on every bet, the house edge for pass/come is 0.606%. On the dont's it's 0.455. This only amounts to 15 cents difference on every $100 in total action.

It's a minuscule edge, but why not take it?

If you're looking for more info, look at the "Wizard of Odds" website. I am an ex floor supervisor and craps boxman (thus my user name), but I learn something new every time I go to this site.

PitCritter - Thanks for your explanation. As a former casino professional, I'm sure you know that most crap players enjoy the "emotion" of the game and are willing to surrender the minor edge to the house.

What is your take on JCRANDLE's response implying the dice may not be true. My concern is that these afloat casinos have no oversight like the gaming commissions in Nevada and New Jersey. For sure, the don't change the dice anywhere near the frequency as ashore. I have often noticed dice that were heavily scratched and know they were used for quite some time.

Doublebzz, having fair dice (cards, roulette wheels...) is in the casino's best interest. If there's any bias, it could be used to a sharp player's advantage.

As far as emotion goes, I agree that betting "with" a hot shooter is a great buzz. To take advantage of this, my favourite bet is to Lay all of the numbers on the come-out. You need to put $194 dollars on the table, but you're only risking $40. The upside is that when a hot shooter rolls a 7 on the come-out, you win $120. Don't forget to put the crew in for a dollar or two on the "Any 7". Karma is a good thing!

The house doesn't need any additional help, the games are ALL skewed in their favor already. The trick is in minimizing the house edge as much as possible.

I'm pretty sure NCL had 3-4-5x on the short 3 day I did with them over last Thanksgiving week. NCL has a lot of rated players and offer games much closer to shoreside. I saw many more serious gamblers on that cruise, including many that were comp'd the cruise based on their ratings.

If they're offering 3/4/5, then I'll be spending more of my time indoors than I had anticipated. I hope you're right. This is a huge advantage to the player.

Never mind...the "Search" button is your friend.

Our first (and only) cruise on X we dubbed "The Bleach Cruise". It was being sprayed everywhere (and not being wiped off). You couldn't get into a crowded elevator without ruining your clothes.

No explanation from the crew and no effort at even a token refund or discount means that we'll never cruise X again.
