Hi there
My wife and I will be travelling on the Massdam on the 6th November, this will be our first ever cruise with HAL. We were wondering how easy or difficult was it to get from the airport to the ship on the day of our cruise and what would be the best way for us to make the transfer. We were also wondering if anyone who had been allocated room BA200 would be willing to give us an idea of what to expect, the cruise is for 14 nights and my wife who is disabled was wondering if the room was near the elevators etc
Thanks in anticipation

Taxi is easiest and cheapest - about ten minutes.

Do not buy HAL transfers -- they are way over priced.
There are tons taxis that will go to the pier -- about 10 - 15 minute ride. Costs about $15 with tip.
At the end of the cruise there are also tons of taxis to go back to the airport.

BA200 is very near the elevators.
Out your door -- turn left -- go a few feet -- turn right -- and you are at the elevators which go up to the Lido or down to the dining room.

Very nice room - 292 sq. ft with verandah - elevators are directly outside of room. Have fun on your cruise!

A few hours ago I answered your question on Ask a cruise question.

Take a cab outside baggage claim at the airport terminal. 10 min ride, easy money. Look for the elevated highway signs that say "Port Everglades" (at times, the mostly Haitian cabbies have been known to take the long way around to run up the meter)
Have a great cruise on Maasdam!

We were on the Maasdam in June cabin B175 which is just across and up a few cabins from BA200. It was a great location and very close to elevators.

I don't know where the OP is from, but they're better off flying in a day early...
...storms have been known to happen in November, delaying flights, and could easily turn this into a "Missed the Boat" scenario.

A day early is never a bad idea, but FLL to Port Everglades must be the best transfer anywhere in the cruise game.
As long as the flight is scheduled early enough (noon or earlier arrival should do), there shouldn't be any issue.

There is also a transfer company called KSA. They have a website and are reliable. You can arrange it ahead of time and then call when you land, they have bright orange vans and they will also do a round trip and pick you up from the ship, I believe it is $9.00 a person each way.

Copper--We have our next cruise booked out of San Diego. How far is the airport from the Holiday Inn that is located across the street from the cruise port?

i would take a cab if I were coming in on the day of a cruise. I always leave on the day that the ship returns and I find the cab to be the best way. The Dock is very close to the Airport.

A 10 min (if that) cab ride, Ma'am, You can see (and hear) Lindbergh Field from your Holiday Inn balcony

This was taken from the balcony of the HI. If you look up beyond the stern of the Russian sub in the harbor and the sail boats further down, you can see the white control tower of Lindbergh Field. If you look real good more to the right, you can see a blue/orange/brown Southwest Airlines 737 taxiing to the runway (probably has Lisa & Tom in it as pax;)). That close!

Thanks Copper---a picture is certainly worth a thousand words in this case. I will be seeing our travel agent about booking air and hotel this week and will be booking the Holiday Inn for sure.

Great picture! We're staying at the Holiday Inn before our cruise in January. Any hot tips on restaurants bayside?

Ruth Chris is right downstairs (from the Holiday Inn) Still the best steakhouse around (IMO)
Anthony's Seafood restaurant is across the street - You can see it in the pic in the foreground.
Besides that, grab a cab to the Gaslamp District and you find yourself in Hog's Heaven as far as restaurants - The city of the Padres is a great place to visit!
If you have time, grab a ride on the Old Towne Trolley for a nice overview of San Diego AND Coronado across the Bay. There's a stop to the left (south of) the cruise terminal (in between that and the USS Midway)
