If you don't have a computer and phone in your booking to HAL
I called HAL reservations and they said you could get a friend or family member to print them out or go to the library.

HAL calls this a conservation issue, but I used 18 pages of 8 x 11 paper to print the docs for our next trip. So it's saving HAL paper, not mine.

Express Docs will be issued for all sailings departing on or after September 25, 2009. Unless you're taking a Grand Voyage

Yes, it adds some inconvenience for those who don't have computers. All you really need to print are the boarding passes ... one for each passenger. These can be printed as far as 75 days prior to sailing, once all immigration and credit card information is entered online. The rest of the material ("Know Before You Go," etc.) can just be read online.

18 pages ??!!

That is terrible.

I know that I tried to print our immigration forms for our Oct 24th cruise -- no can do!!

Meno stated that we can't do it until on or about Sept 6th.

About 50 days before your cruise is the norm for printing your immigration forms.

You can fill in the information before that -- just can't print them out.

BUT

You can print out your luggage tags any time you want to.

Wow 18 pages:confused: How many pages are the boarding passes ?

You really don't need ANY paperwork, except for your ID's....if you've filled out the 'online" form, even if you don't print it, you'll be ok.
As long as you have your booking/reservation # and ID's, you're fine.

Actually, you can't print them 75 days prior any more..Our Friends are on the Oosterdam Oct. 17 & I'm printing up their boarding passes..The WEB site will not allow it before Aug 30..

Just a suggestion for all who have not yet printed up their new e-docs. You can (if you do not have a computer or printer) have a friend print them out, go to FedExKinkos, a public library, just to name a couple.

Instead of printing all the documents, try printing single page for the Boarding pass(s) any other docs that other CC'rs say you must/need to have for boarding. All the other info, need to know stuff, print them on both sides of the paper. Most printers have a setting that enables you to print on both sides (I think it is i the Printer Preferences.)

Just a suggestion....

Large office copiers have this feature - and some large office printers do as well...

...but the vast majority of printers - office or home - do not.

I just print one page at a time, putting it back into the printer to print both sides. Saves a lot of paper. EM

There were two passengers, each 9 pages. There was a lot of info I thought I should have.

You can view everything before you print it... it's up to you how much you actually print beyond the first page.

And 18 pages, even if you print the whole thing, is still better than the holder, the random papers, the know before you go booklet, the shore ex booklet, the plastic bag it ships in and all the fuel used to get it to you.

Even if you print 50 pages, it's still better for the environment.

Bill if you have cruised before with HAL, all you need to print off is your Express Pass for each person in your group.

Last year was our fist HAL cruise and our doco did not turn up from our t/a. The only piece of paper we rocked up at the pier with was the 1 page boarding pass, I think mine might have been two pages because I had the credit card stuff. You do not need all the other paperwork, it is onlky for your reference, read it online if possible. Also if you do feel more comfortable having all that printed just print it out for one person, not a copy for everyone in your group.

IMHO, this is a welcome improvement. With each 'blue doc holder' is an assortment of stuff, 90% of which I throw in the trash can, including the HAL Mariner Badges.
It seems to me that this information is valuable for first time HAL cruisers and HAL and/or the agent should package it for them, regardless of these new changes. For those of us who are seasoned HAL cruisers, it is a waste of money.
The only doc that we present when we arrive at portside is the one page per passenger cruise ticket and signature preferred boarding pass. All the other stuff seems useless, unless things change.

How do these paper luggage tags work that you print off the computer? Do you put them inside another luggage tag or what? Surely you can't just tape a paper tag to the luggage, right???

Yes you can actually tape them onto the handle of your luggage, since they fold in three parts & will not come off..

I'm a bit persnickety & don't like the looks of them folded in three parts..;)...

Instead, I'm printing them on card stock..Cutting out the tag, folding it in half, punching a hole in the end & using a tie wrap to attach it to our luggage...

Some folks are using clear tape over them & others are going to put them in plastic..If you don't want to print them out the porters will have them at the pier..Whatever
you want to do..

Not a problem..:)Betty

As irl joannie mentioned most home printers are the same..

We have two HP printers & one was only $60.00..Both of them have the capability of two sided printing..In your printer options you set your preferences to "two sided printing" ...When the odd numbered pages are done, the printer shows you how to re-insert your pages & then it prints up the even numbered pages..

Every printer we've ever had has this capability..
