I read posts that the music on board the Zuiderdam gears to the Sinatra and 50/60's era, is this true? We are 41 and really aren't into that music era, do you feel that we should choose another ship? Thank you!!

No need to choose another ship. You may have misunderstood my post on the other thread.
There is a disco that would have music you enjoy. On some Hal ships there is a 50/60's one night. This lasts about an hour or so.
The music in the Ocean Bar is more low keyed, disco or rap it is not. Sinatra, soft rock type music is played. Much depends on the group playing. I have heard a good mix from big band to something more modern.
Stick to the disco, you will enjoy it. :)

On embarkation day Nov 20 on Zui, we heard Dave Matthews Band, Madonna, John Mayer, Cyndi Lauper, etc. A mix of 80s, 90s, and today music. Heard the same type of music played outside throughout the week - but we really took note of the songs on embarkation day. Really surprised us as we had not recalled hearing so much current music on Maasdam last year for the Thanksgiving sailing. (We're ages 30/32 so it was kinda the music we listen to at home) When playing shuffleboard, there is a speaker right there so it can definitely be heard even if it is windy outside - which sometimes you just want to enjoy the sound of the wind. We most definitely enjoyed the music of the pianist, strings, and small bands at various times while indoors (afternoon tea, dinner, pre-dinner cocktails, etc).:)

We are booked on the Zuiderdam 12/23 sailing and are 40 & 41 (with 3 kids 6, 9, and 11). Will report when we return. Is there a stell drum/calypso band on the ship?

On the Nov 20 sailing, yes, there was a steel pan drum band. It was midship by Lido pool near the grill area.
