Does anyone know if you can use the card for beer purchase and would it be cost effective? If I am at the pool I may want a few coronas and I hate the idea of signing for one everytime. A card seems so much easier to me. Thanks:)

No beer card that I know of, but there are beer buckets. 5 or 6 beers in a bucket -- etc. No idea of the cost.

Cost is around $30 for 6 Coronas (*read - RIPOFF!!!*) I don't think you can use your drink card for them individually, either.

Well, thanks for the sad news. I knew they were pricey but had hoped one could use the drink card instead of paying individually.

We are not beer drinkers -- but HAL does have specials on buckets of beer -- check into that once you are on the ship.

Glad to hear there is a bucket price. I hope it is for 6 at a time. 6 X 66 days I know its going to get pricy. Wonder if there is a volume price if you can buy more than that.
Next problem will to keep em chilled. Don't think the wife would appreciate me having the room steward fill the bathub with ice every morning.
Might mean a larger tip?

My upcoming cruise on Eurodam will be my first on HAL, so I'm making a broad statement here.
I have never been stopped or questioned when bringing back a six pack of local beer from a port day.
I absolutely buy a bucket on sea days, but on port days (evenings), I always have local beer at ~$1 each to drink.

According to my experiences on HAL they take away all booze and beer but allow wine and soda to be brought aboard. They do give it back when the cruise is over. If you hear that passengers got away with it so be it. It is not allowed by HAL. Colakid.

Just to clariify...I'm not "Getting away with" anything. I carry the beer back with me on port days and it goes through the scanner. I don't smuggle anything. I'll report back after my 10/10 cruise to see if HAL allows this practice.
