Hi Bob, Yes. We were charged for our May 09 Alaska Cruise. But it was refunded before we left. I believe it was $9.00 pp per day.

Back in June, Carnival Corp. announced that at least for now they did not plan to re-introduce the fuel surcharge.
Yes, there were several days recently when crude closed in the $71-73 range, but it was not sustained. Crude closed today at $67.96.
My opinion: if a fuel surchage is re-introduced, it will be when crude remains steady for a significant time in the $75-80 range. I don't think a blip of a couple to several days will spur Carnival to add the charge back in.

MIAMI (June 10, 2009) - At the time we suspended fuel supplements for our six North American brands, we reserved the right to reinstate them if the price of light sweet crude oil, according to the NYMEX, should increase above $70 per barrel. While we have now exceeded that threshold, in light of the economic crisis and resulting consumer weakness, we presently have no plans to institute a fuel supplement. We will continue to monitor the situation in the markets and review our position as the situation warrants.

And as I mention each time this topic comes up, please keep in mind this is a Carnival Corporation Directive and each of the brands (North American, European or Global... however they choose to identify) must comply.

We are currently on Maasdam and had no fuel surcharge.
Just made final payment for a late fall cruise, and so far, no fuel surcharge.

I came across this thread tonight and it got me to thinking. Perhaps I should check my documents because I remembered there being a fuel charge.
As I had suspected, I was charged for a fuel charge.
So now my question is. Have they added that back on, or are they giving credits if the charge is no longer?
TIA

You should check with your Travel Agent or if you booked with Hal, check with them..You should be getting a refund if you have made final payment..

I booked about a month ago for 1/12 on Zuiderdam. We were not charged for surcharge - but told they could add it later... HTH.
