Hotels Near Pier/airport/san Diego

Starting to research hotels close to the pier and airport in San Diego. I see on the map that they are close together! Any recommendations for hotels that are nice but not out of line price wise? I intend to use Priceline but need some hotel names first.

Not going until 2005 so have time to research. Thank you for any input you may have.:)

We have stayed at the Embassy Suites many times - 10 - 15 minutes from airport and 5 minutes from pier.

Many people have stayed at the Holiday Inn which is right across from the pier.

Go to www.biddingfortravel.com and they will give guidance on hotels in downtown San Diego and what to bid. It is a tough area to get a particular hotel so we decided to use some Hyatt points I had and booked the Hyatt Manchester for the night before our Hawaii cruise.

We always stay at the Comfort Inn Downtown. It's an older establishment, but clean. They charge $79 plus tax for a double. This includes pickup at the airport and transportation to the Comfort Inn. A very nice continental breakfast and transportation from the comfort Inn to the ship. Take care.

Check an earlier thread -- about 2 weeks ago -- a very good discussion of hotels and also a super place to buy wine (Ralph's Super Market). We prefer Holiday Inn on the Bay immediately across from the pier but there were other good suggestions in the thread. Do reserve early -- they seem to be quite popular with the pier and conventions.

Yes the Holiday Inn is very close to the pier and a very good "British Pub" eatery there also. The Hampton Inn is another one close to the cruise terminal, comfortable lodgings and a great breakfast included. Both of these are walking distance to ship.

The airport is about a 4 minute drive from the pier, so most places are near both. Almost any hotel in downtown San Diego is less than a ten minute cab ride from the pier (except during Padre games and/or commute hours)
