We are having a super time. Captain Rowden told us last night at the show that we had the best calving of Hubbard Glacier that he had ever seen. He stayed there an extra one and a half hours. The food is very good. The beds let me dream away. The sceney blows us away! Hope you all get a chance to make it up here at least once!!!

Sitka was one of my favorite towns in Alaska! I would love to go back some day! Glad to hear you had such a great time at Hubbard!

Di, I can answer that: Captain Rowden is master of the Ryndam.
Sylteach, I'm jealous - I want to go back!

I am so happy you are enjoying OUR Alaska, I'd say MINE, but so many others here would yell at me (Just kidding) I love Alaska and am happy to hear you are having a "DAM" Blast!!!
Can you do me a favor and take pictures of your cabin and email them to me when you get back?? I am doing a new web site with photos of the cabins for the CC'rs to see what they look like.
Go have more fun!!!

Hi Joanie, before you ask, Yes I will send picture of whatever "Dam" cabin I get on my cruise in October. I think that you have taken on quite a task and wish you all the best of luck in this task. Cheers m8

Sylteach: Glad you got to see some calving. I didn't on our recent 7 day cruise to Alaska on the Zuiderdam, but the scenery was fascinating anyway. I loved Sitka - stopped there on my last cruise to Alaska a few years ago.
Have a lovely time on your cruise.

Thank You so much SoundsGreat6!!!! I sent Richwmn the link and he has not only given me a little advice (much needed) to make the photos load quicker, and has graciously allowed me to use his photos also:D
I am having a blast doing this!! And surprisingly, it is not that difficult.
I am so looking forward to all of your Cabin shots!!

I have been to Hubbard Glacier twice. Once, on the OOSTERDAM, I found the calving to be awsome--just as you describe. The other time I was there the water was so clogged with icebers we could not even get close enough to see any calving. We were not very close to the Glacier. Personally, I prefer Glacier Bay. By the way, Sitka is a great stop.
I have been there any number of times and find the place to be awsome!

I was in Sitka last Tuesday. LOVED it. We had spectacular weather and thought Sitka was fantastic. Our favorite port of the week.
