What is your favorite cocktail on HAL cruises? I remember that Gizmo talked about one that is made with Bailey's Irish Cream. I just searched and cannot find it. Since we will be on the Westerdam that is leaving this Sunday and have our shipboard credit I would like to have some drink suggestions. I want to make a list of must try cocktails.

my favorites:

Flaming Spanish Coffee served in the Explorer's Lounge after dinner.
Coral Lemondrop - available in most any lounge.
Maker's Mark Manhattan - "Up, and with a Twist".

I'm a wine drinker but once in a while I'll splurge and let myself have a Frozen Cappucino Oasis with Bailey's and Kahlua out at the pool. They are Yum!

After dinner, Black Sambucca is wonderful.

Very simple drinkers - Absolut!!

After dinner we like Drambuie and/or a good brandy.

Never drink by the pool as DH likes to swim once in a while - not a good idea to drink and swim.

Anngie,

Are you referring to the BBC? Bailey's Banana Colada?

Not much on cocktails, prefer a highball of Scotch and water, but when I do have a cocktail its usually a frozen Kahlua Colada......jean

WindyCity, that just might be it......... Where is Gizmo when she is needed? Bailey's Banana Colada sounds good. Is that similar to a Dirty Banana?
I thought that this topic would bring some good ones out. I must try a chocolate martini.

Dirty Banana! I had those when we were in Jamaica. I forgot to get the recipe from the bartender. Does anyone have the recipe?

I got hooked on these during my 10/04 Diamond Princess cruise. I have since learned how to make them at home.....not hard at all, just need a mixer, baileys, banana, pina colada mix (nonalcoholic) and of course ice. I put approx 4 cups of ice cubes in the mixer, add shots of bailey (TBD by your personal taste), 1 banana and enough pina colada mix for the ice to blend. Top off with whipped cream and voila - BBC!!! YUMMY BEYOND BELIEF!!! Happy Sailing~

Not technically a cocktail but I usually drink a shirley temple with a shot or two (if it has been a long day...as much as how ever much change I have in my pockets will get me) of vodka in it. Looks pretty, you usually get a cherry and the orange juice fends off illness :)

Favorite drink is a sombrero---made with heavy cream, please. I was introduced to those by an officer on my very first cruise. Wonder if that's why I liked cruising so much?
But, alas, I can't drink those anymore.

So now, if and when I can have one, it's just a plain old daiquiri. With cherry garnish! (gotta get something sweet.)

HAL is famous for the 'Wang-Wang". I can not remember what is in it. After 2 of them I need a nap! They are tasty and seem very innocent.....but quite the opposite. Potent stuff.

Hi Anngie,

Yes, the one I talked about is a BBC. My favorite afternoon drink. Yummy

Check the menus that are on the bar and also the drink of the day. There are some very good drinks listed.

I was told they couldn`t make Mojitos on board as you need fresh mint for a Mojito.....jean

Have three: A Maker's Mark Manhattan-up. A Grey Goose Cosmopolitan. A Top Shelf "Cadillac" Margarita-on the rocks, no salt.

I like a good quality gold margarita on the rocks, but I don't like HAL's margarita mixer, so I forgo this one on cruises (like I need all those calories anyway!)

Usually stick to the house Chardonnay, but always check what brand it is first. Sometimes an Absolut and soda.

DH likes Bacardi and Diet Pepsi at home, but drinks Bacardi and Coke onboard.

We also like the "make your own" Bloody Mary specials when they are available...

Tell DH to try Captain Morgan's spiced rum with his coke/pepsi next time. I use to be a regular rum/coke drinker until I discovered Captain Morgan's....now I won't drink any rum but CM's.....Happy Sailing!

1cruiselvr - We do Capt's & diet Pepsi all summer long! It's a keeper. :)

Helps keep the calories down too. :D

Actually, gin, seltzer, and sugarfree Tang, basically a low carb gin screwdriver. I bring the Tang with me. Occasionally find a bar that has diet tonic. Has anyone has ordered or seen diet tonic on HAL. If none of these available, it's Scotch and water, short rocks.

I fell in love with the all you can drink Pina Coladas on BBQ night at the Lido pool! They were the tastiest I've ever had & served in a hollowed out pineapple shell. The pineapple scooped from the shell was actually mixed in with the Pina Colada. The staff kept pushing us to drink faster so they could refill (I loved that!) For $11.95 I felt that it was a great value as I probably gained 2 pounds that evening alone! Can't wait to have them again in September! Chef Nancy
