Day 3 – At Sea
This is the third of a daily review of the 11/27 sailing of the Zaandam, eastern Caribbean cruise. The daily review will be short covering the major events.
Communications
Phone charges have definitely come down in price. Calling from the ship is .99 a minute to the USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and Caribbean. It is 1.99 to all other destinations. The internet is .70 a minute with various packages including: 100 minutes for $55 and 250 minutes for $100.
Mondriann Lounge (Show Room)
The set-up on the main floor is a combination of permanent 2 seat lounges and single chairs. The lounges are more comfortable and most have a table. Also look at the lights on the tables; they have different musical instruments in them.
Other stuff
The show band consists of 2 guitars, a sax, keyboard and a drummer. What happen to the days when they had a real show band? I guess this is one of the areas they can cut back without most people noticing or was this always the case with HAL.
Food Update
Will do a more through review of food at the end of the cruise but the menu now has a comfort each night. Most nights it makes sense, turkey, pot roast (not meatloaf, yet); but when is braised lamb shanks a comfort food for Americans?
