Does anyone know/have any ideas what the Epic will be doing from July 1-10th? She has to get down to Miami by the 10th, but do you think NCL will open these dates up for a repositioning cruise from NYC to Miami?

Nothing has been announced yet, but if I had to guess I'd say that following the TA she'll showcase in NY for a few days and do a couple CTN sailings for VIPs, TA's, etc. I'd love a repo to Miami, but due to the distant foreign port requirement, I don't think it's in the cards.

It seems NCL doesn't even know yet.

I'm totally wanting to do the repo. Can't wait for the details? I'm wondering what you mean by the "distant foreign port requirement". Can you help me out with that one?

Any ship going from one US port to another must stop at a "distant" foreign port first. The Epic will sail to Miami without passengers unless they let those that got on in UK to to continue and that is not going to happen. . The closest distant port is Aruba and they are not going to make that in few days remaining after the promotions in NYC and the pre 7/10 promotions in Miami.

They've already replied to this question on Facebook. There will not be a stop.

Bermuda is a 2-day sail in each direction, isn't it? There isn't time.

As someone noted, they arrive NYC on July 1st. There will undoubtedly be an (or a couple of) invitation only TA CTN(s) for a few days including July 4th to watch the fireworks...then she'll said to Miami probably on the 5th - 8th, there will probably be a series of either CTNs or open-houses for all of Miami shoreside staff and local TAs, and then first North American revenue sailing on 7/10/09.

That's my guess, anyway.
Stephen

P.S. They'll probably also use the days between NYC & Miami for training refresher, post-Transatlantic.

Bermuda is not considered a "distant" foreign port. Once again the closest "distant" foreign port is Aruba.

My bet it will not be a training cruise but rather like the Gem from Boston to NYC after her first TA a chance to thank the crew for all the hard work getting the ship out with one heck of a party.
