Does HAL host meet and greet get-togethers like some of the other cruise lines? If they do, how does one sign up? Thanks.

Call HAL and talk to "Ships Services" and ask for the coordinator for the ship that you are sailing on. They will walk you through from there.

In order to host a meet and greet one must first be on a roll call with other like minded individuals. Once the roll call is going, generally the person that started the roll call will contact ships services at the number in the above post and set it up.
HAL does not host these get togethers. They will help arrange your meeting space and usually will provide cookies, coffee and tea. Once in a blue moon the CD or someone else in authority will have good feelings about CC and will offer champagne or wine and appetizers or crudites. One may invite officers and staff and sometimes they show up but not always.

To answer your question Hal does not actually set up the meet & greet or officially sponsor them, such as RCCL does..RCCL has a contract with Cruise Critic to sponsor the roll calls..Some ships will put a notice in their daily paper, but HAL does not..
However HAL does welcome Cruise Critic participants on board & will deignate a place for your groups meet & greet..
As Kakalina states you must join a roll call...Ships Services or the coordinator can't help you until your group is set up..
Are you scheduled on a cruise? If so look up your ship & date of departure on the Roll Call Thread:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86 (http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=86)
Once you join the roll, & the majority decide to have a meet & greet the person who is your roll call coordinator (usually as Kakalina states the one who started it) will then contact the ships coordinator to set it up..The roll call coordinator will need to have the number of people who will attend & give HAL the date & time they want to meet..The ships co-coordinator will take it from there..
HAL will give the group a spot, many times in the Crows Nest, & will provide coffee & pastries & often they will provide drinks, but not always..
Usually the person in charge of the roll call asks you to contact them via e-mail with your name & cabin number..The Bar Manager, CD or HM likes to have this, as your group will often be invited to the Captain's VIP party later in the week..
If you can't find your roll call, let us know & someone here will be glad to help you..
Good luck...Betty
