Hi. I had a question about HAL shipboard accounts. I know that I should call Ship Services, but truth is, you will not always get the most knowledgable person on the phone:o , so I wanted to ask all of you seasoned HAL Cruisers...
If I prepay a credit on my shipboard account, along with maybe a gift from family on my shipbard account...Lets say I have a total credit of $500.00 and I only spend $300.00. What happens to the remaining $200.00? How is it returned to me? (ie. check, cash, credit card 'credit', shipboard credit for a future cruise)
Thanks so much for your replies!!!

Hi KCat,
The usual procedure is to wait until the last morning of the cruise, when they have processed all the weeks charges, and then go to the pursers desk and close out your account. Normally if there is a balance you will recieve it in cash. They normally don't finish the billings for the last day of your cruise until the final bar tabs are in and no more charges are being made. If you have any concerns you can check at the pursers desk at any time and they can answer any questions you may have.

This only happened to me once, and I rec`d a check from HAL within 2 weeks. If you have HAL cabin credit, this will not be reimbursed, only credits from outside sources.....jean

Thank you for your replies, they helped alot.
One more question...Does the ship cash traveler's checks free of charge or is there a fee?

I'm curious. If you have a HAL cabin credit, plus some other credits such as bon voyage gifts, which credit gets used up first? I would think it would be by date of issue.
