We just got back from the Sept 9th cruise to Alaska on the Mariner and were upgraded to the Master Suite. I originally scheduled the cruise on August 5th. My TA told me Regent was offering a fantastic deal if I cancelled that cruise and took a later one.
I changed to Sept 9th and was given the Master Suite. A two bedroom suite with two and half bathrooms, two bedrooms, two balconys and a butler. Wow!
What a sweet deal for a suite. (Sorry for the pun)
We had our luggage shipped to the ship via the company Regent uses for their world cruises. It was wonderful. The luggage was in our room when we arrived and arrived back at our house the same day we got back from the cruise.
If anyone has any questions, I will attempt to answer them.

I have a question: how do you go back to a "regular" suite from here??? Our first cruise was an inside cabin; then after a few years we had a window (no balconies in those days); then a balcony; then a suite...the rest is history.
Good for you. That sounds like an amazing upgrade.

What grade suite were you upgraded from and was it at any extra cost?

You probably lucked out with great weather, too! Plus no kids! Wow, sounds amazing.

I booked the cheapest suite, G I believe and still upgraded to Master Suite, I guess Regent really appreciated the Aug 5 Cancellation. My orginial booking was a single but this trip I took my daughter and son in law but at rates geared to my orginal category.
Thanks Regent.
It rained, cloudy, foggy, and then sunshine when we visited the glaciers.

If you are on a sailing that is oversold and will switch to a different date then Regent offers enticements for you to change. These offers include the largest suites available, longer cruises for these same fare, refund of your fare plus a cash offer or a future cruise credit. If you are flexible these are wonderful values. More and more cruises are oversold on Regent and the offers are nice so they always find people to volunteer and everyone is happy. If you are booked on an oversold ship in a category where they are oversold you will be contacted with an offer.

Do they notify everyone in that category? Also, how long before the cruise do you receive notice?

it is my experience that Regent notifies your TA - not you directly. I had to call my TA and notify him I would be interested in hearing about any offers, or I do not think I would have received them. One I never got (another poster had mentioned it), the next/first was 2 weeks out and rejected. the following one at 10 days before departure we accepted. I saw a post that someone rejected an offer 2 days out. I am glad the OP had such a good experience, and am pleased with Regent for making every effort to avoid serious 'bumping' at the dock! It is not like they can just put you on the next scheduled departure like an airline :)
