Ok....I have booked the dec. 4th sailing on the Maasdam of the caribbean/panama cruise in a veranda cabin (BC 203) for $1799. I have been watching for a better price on things and final payment was Sunday. Now I go today and they are supposidly selling veranda SUITES for 1799. I click to look at details and the suits are going for over 5000! The other cuises listed are the same way too. Now when I questions a rep at HAL when I was making my final payment on Saturday (at that time they had it listed for 1899) at that time. I was told that it was not the cruise I was on but one of the others listed on that link above.

So I looked at all the cruises listed for the maasdam (there were three of them) and NONE of them are listed at this discounted 1799 price! Isn't this called false advertising? Or am I missing something here?? I even do a dummy booking on them and none of them come up with the 1799. What am I missing?

If you look at 'details of your fare' -- it shows the verandah cabin BC at $1799. The difference are the port taxes and insurance and fees. I tried to cut/paste to show you but the format didn't transfer well.

ok I just got off the line again with HAL. Apperently the 'veranda suites' on the maasdam are the same as the 'verandas' catagory. So the guy I talked to said that the 1799 listed in the 'suite' is the correct catagory listing for what I already have.

The thing that got me confused was that during last weeks 3 day sale...I upgraded to the BC veranda for 1799 and the 'veranda suites' were going for over 2000 each. Then they lowered the 'veranda suites' to 1899 and put an N/A for the veranda slot.

I do not understand why they put the two seperate colums if one of them doesn't exist on the smaller ships. Its all confusing for the average person who doesn't know these things.:D

Calling them suites is misleading, too, IMO. They're NOT suites.

Yes, Jim, the only true suite on HAL ships is the Penthouse, right?

A one-room accommodation technically, except in ship-speak, is not a suite.

I'm guessing that the Verandah column is shown for the S and R ships ... because HAL uses the same grid or table on the Special Offers page so as to accommodate all ships in the fleet.

Hence, there is no Verandah category on the Maasdam (tho there is on the Eurodam and Vista Class ships) ... on the Maasdam there are Verandah Suites (A thru BC) and Deluxe Veranda Suites (S category) and, yes, the Penthouse Suite.:)

And if I am reading correctly in the 'About Our Ships' for the Maasdam, the Verandah Suites do get a couple of perks.??????
